Job Overview
The Funding and Investments Lead Analyst will support CTI and drive the production needs and lead various workstreams related to investment of Citi’s major liquidity portfolios and raise long term debt and capital as well as the return of capital to shareholders through a share repurchase program, in coordination with the Treasury Funding and investments team. The overall objective is the process of management and execution of the CTI portfolio including management of the USD interest rate risk for Citi’s accrual business (i.e., banking book, ex trading), the USD and Non-USD derivative programs, as well as third party funding and internal US dollar funding to various legal entities & businesses.
Responsibilities:
Be a Lead Analyst to assist manage Investment Securities Portfolio of both HQLA and Non-HQLA securities including SSAs, MBS, US Treasuries, Non-$ Government Securities, Credit and assist manage the firm’s Interest Rate to improve returns in accordance with the Non-Trading Market Risk Management (NTMR) limit framework.
Contributes to implementation of investment strategies to optimize returns and mitigate risk, execute Capital Markets activity, oversee the strategic direction and execution of interest rate and FX derivative activities, manage and execute IR Derivatives and implement and enhance Treasury Funding and Investment Standards, lead the management of the Central Bank Balance position, and drive the execution of Intercompany funding programs.
Be a Lead Analyst in overseeing the investment of global surplus liquidity pools, provide long-term accrual revenue stream for Treasury while assisting in managing and mitigating Credit and Market Risk
Be a Lead in supporting implementation of firm’s short- and long-term borrowing programs as well Citi's capital programs such as preferred stock issuance and common stock repurchase.
Be a Lead Analyst to support implementation of the USD interest rate risk for Citi's accrual businesses via execution of USD derivative hedge accounting programs that allow derivatives to receive Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) treatment (accrual accounting).
Contributes to implementation of the Net Investment Hedge program to protect Citi's capital and Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) Ratio from Foreign Exchange (FX) movements. In addition, FX hedging of Citigroup Non -USD Debt, Non-USD available for sale (AFS) securities and other non-USD balance sheet exposures are also managed in this process.
Be a Lead analyst to support monitoring the Central Bank balance for USD, including intraday liquidity management activities to ensure the firms cash position meets internal and regulatory objectives.
Support CTI act as a central hub to consolidate USD Cash from various Citigroup businesses and provides liquidity to legal entities and Citibank branches through money market transactions.
Support Business Leaders to design implementation and execution of governance frameworks, activities, and material preparation for governance committees such as Asset & Liability Committee (ALCO) to ensure compliance with applicable internal policies and standards.
Work with key business, technology, and operations stakeholders to eliminate delivery and execution obstacles to ensure change throughput is optimized.
Partner with Risk & Controls team to maintain and enhance an effective internal control’s structure.
Be a Lead to support Business Execution activities including desk support, P&L and Economic Value affirmation, In-business Risk management, process, and control enhancements as well as project management and strategic initiatives.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of teams and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
Qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge the fixed-income market including Treasury, MBS and other spread product securities, along with understanding of regulatory, compliance, risk management and financial management concerns
- Comprehensive Understanding of Treasury, Funding, Investments and Markets.
- Technical problem-solving skills and ability to identify conflicts, discrepancies and other issues and bring together the right team to solution them.
- Strategic mindset, ability to plan to future possibilities and translate them into breakthrough strategies.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency, passion for results and personal accountability for achievement.
- Able to navigate through a large organization to streamline and summarize multiple information points and create repeatable processes to build consistency in presenting information.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and tasks in a complex and dynamic and work well as part of a team.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Investments.
