Licensed Practical Nurse Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a licensed practical nurse job in San Diego?
The strongest hiring activity in San Diego is in long-term care facilities, federally qualified health centers, veterans' health programs, and correctional health services. Jobs cluster in Hillcrest, Mission Valley, Chula Vista, and National City. Candidates who have experience with electronic health records and bilingual Spanish skills stand out in San Diego's diverse patient population, which leans heavily toward community and safety-net care settings.
Which companies hire licensed practical nurses in San Diego?
Employers hiring licensed practical nurses in San Diego right now include Sevita, AccentCare, and ComForCare, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Diego's mix of large health systems, county-run clinics, Veterans Affairs facilities, and privately operated skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers keeps demand broad and consistent across the metro.
Are there remote licensed practical nurse jobs in San Diego?
Yes, but remote work is rare for licensed practical nurses given that most duties require direct, hands-on patient contact. About 0% of licensed practical nurse openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those roles are almost entirely in care coordination, telephonic triage, or utilization review rather than bedside or clinic work.
How can I get a licensed practical nurse job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is through skilled nursing facilities and long-term care communities in Chula Vista, El Cajon, and National City, which regularly hire new graduates and candidates completing clinical rotations. Federally qualified health centers and county behavioral health programs also recruit entry-level LPNs. A completed clinical rotation at a San Diego-area facility and documented competency in wound care or medication administration strengthens any application.
