Licensed Practical Nurse Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a licensed practical nurse job in Chicago?
Focus your search on Chicago's dense corridors of long-term care facilities along the North Side, federally qualified health centers serving the South and West Sides, and the large hospital systems anchored in Streeterville and the Medical District. Candidates with experience in geriatric, post-acute, or behavioral health settings stand out locally. Bilingual skills, particularly Spanish or Polish, are a genuine edge with many Chicago patient populations.
Which companies hire licensed practical nurses in Chicago?
Companies currently hiring licensed practical nurses in Chicago include Majestic Health Services, Paul House & Healthcare Center, and Peterson Park Health Care Center, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Chicago's hiring mix skews toward skilled nursing facilities, community health organizations, and specialty outpatient clinics spread across the city's many distinct neighborhoods.
Are there remote licensed practical nurse jobs in Chicago?
Remote work is rare for licensed practical nurses since the role is hands-on and requires direct patient contact. About 0% of licensed practical nurse openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve care coordination, telephone triage, or utilization review functions rather than bedside care.
How can I get a licensed practical nurse job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through long-term care and skilled nursing facilities, which hire new graduates more consistently than hospitals. Chicago's network of federally qualified health centers and community clinics also takes on entry-level licensed practical nurses in support roles. Completing a clinical rotation at a Chicago facility and applying to its own open positions immediately after graduation shortens the hiring timeline considerably.
