Licensed Practical Nurse Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a licensed practical nurse job in Houston?
Focus your search on the Texas Medical Center and its surrounding facilities, which anchor the largest medical complex in the world and draw constant LPN demand across hospitals, specialty clinics, and rehab centers. Long-term care facilities and home health agencies in Greenspoint, Katy, and Pearland also hire consistently. Candidates with experience in geriatric care, wound care, or IV therapy tend to move faster through Houston hiring pipelines.
Which companies hire licensed practical nurses in Houston?
Companies currently hiring licensed practical nurses in Houston include Optum, Elara Caring, and Fresenius Medical Care, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's employer mix skews toward large health systems, multi-site long-term care operators, and home health agencies serving the city's expansive and geographically spread patient population.
Are there remote licensed practical nurse jobs in Houston?
Remote work is rare for licensed practical nurses because the role is inherently hands-on and requires direct patient contact. About 0% of licensed practical nurse openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to be in care coordination, telephonic triage, or utilization review rather than bedside roles.
How can I get a licensed practical nurse job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through long-term care and skilled nursing facilities, which hire new LPNs more readily than acute care hospitals. Operators in the Westheimer corridor and in suburban areas like Humble and Friendswood often run new-grad cohorts. Completing a clinical rotation at a Houston-area facility, or applying for a resident care position as a stepping stone, gives you direct local references that matter to Houston hiring managers.
Which industries hire the most licensed practical nurses in Houston?
The sectors hiring the most licensed practical nurses in Houston are Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's scale as a regional medical hub, combined with its large aging population and growing suburban communities, keeps demand elevated across all of those sectors year-round.
