About the role
The Producer Licensing Specialist is responsible for processing and maintaining producer licenses and appointments in compliance with country, state and local insurance regulations across the global licensing team. This role serves as a subject matter expert on licensing requirements and ensures all producer credentials remain current and compliant across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process producer license applications, renewals, and terminations in accordance with state regulatory requirements.
- Submit and track producer appointments with insurance carriers across multiple states, including following up with brokers for missing information.
- Work closely with Underwriting and Operations teams to ensure licensing matters are addressed in a timely manner.
- Partner with third parties and shared service teams to support timely responses to underwriters, brokers, and regulators.
- Maintain accurate licensing records in company databases and management systems, including investigation and remediation of data discrepancies.
- Research and interpret state licensing requirements, regulations, and procedural changes.
- Perform license and appointment validation activities with state and local regulatory databases.
- Coordinate with state departments of insurance to resolve licensing issues and discrepancies.
- Support the operation and effectiveness of controls, governance and escalate where any issues arise with local standards and procedures.
- Perform ad-hoc activities to extract and analyze large data sets, create reports on licensing status, compliance metrics, and processing timeliness.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of state insurance licensing regulations and NAIC guidelines
- 3+ years of experience in insurance licensing, producer appointments, or regulatory compliance
- Proficiency with licensing management systems, databases, and Microsoft office
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record maintenance
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Prioritization – able to effectively prioritize tasks, navigate and switch between multiple proprietary, vendor, web-based, and standard computer systems
- Learning Agility – willingness to learn from experiences and new situations.
- Client Servicing – ability to anticipate client (internal and external) needs and act proactively.
- Ability to understand and interpret insurance regulation, guidelines and law
- Strong research skills in the areas of insurance compliance, conduct and financial regulation
- Problem Solving – identify problems and solutions matched to the appropriate solutions.
- Meticulous – demonstrate attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation is maintained.
- Influencing Skills – ability to mentor & influence peers in the team & around the business or their unique perspectives.
For positions based in NJ, the base salary range is $70,000 - $76,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
