Many candidates gain foundational skills through union apprenticeships with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 14 or Local 137, which offer structured heavy equipment training programs specific to New York worksites. An OSHA safety card strengthens any application.

Which New York cities have the most loader operator jobs?
Elbridge, Jamesville, and Ravena have the most loader operator openings in New York. New York City dominates due to its volume of active construction projects, waste management contracts, and port logistics operations, while Buffalo and Albany generate steady demand from regional construction activity, municipal services, and distribution facilities tied to upstate manufacturing and infrastructure work.
Are there remote loader operator jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Loader operation is a hands-on, equipment-based role that requires physical presence on a job site, so the vast majority of positions are fully on-site.
