Why choose Staples Mill Animal Hospital?
Staples Mill Animal Hospital is a 6-doctor small animal practice in Woodbridge, VA with a reputation that's rare these days: low turnover, no drama, and a team that actually likes each other. This is the kind of place where management listens, ideas get implemented, issues get addressed quickly, and people typically stay for years.
The clinical environment is high-volume and fast-paced — 30-minute appointments, surgery Monday through Thursday and a strong emphasis on diagnostics. Techs work to the top of their license here: full-mouth digital dental rads are mandatory on every dental patient, in-house cytology runs through an AI-assisted IDEXX Imagist, and wellness panels are a major part of the practice's diagnostic culture. There's also an ultrasound on site for basics, plus a traveling ultrasound group that comes in regularly for more advanced imaging. Surgical cases include soft tissue, extracapsular cruciate repairs, mass removals, and occasional urgent cases — with true emergencies generally referred out.

LVT Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a lvt in Virginia?
To become a licensed veterinary technician in Virginia, you must graduate from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program and pass the Veterinary Technician National Examination. You then apply for licensure through the Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine, which issues the state credential required to practice. Virginia does not offer reciprocity by default, so applicants licensed elsewhere must apply through the Board directly and may need to verify their examination history.
Which companies hire lvts in Virginia?
Virginia lvt roles are posted by NVA, Innovetive Petcare, and Banfield Pet Hospital and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Virginia's mix of corporate general practices, independent emergency hospitals, and university-affiliated specialty referral centers means openings appear across a wide range of employer types throughout the state.
Which Virginia cities have the most lvt jobs?
Charlottesville, Mechanicsville, and Virginia Beach consistently post the highest volume of lvt openings in Virginia. Northern Virginia's density of corporate and specialty practices drives the largest share of listings, while Richmond's combination of general practices and the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine generates steady demand, and Virginia Beach's coastal population supports a strong base of independent and emergency clinics.
Are there remote lvt jobs in Virginia?
Yes, but they're rare. The hands-on nature of veterinary technology means the large majority of roles require in-person patient care. About 0% of lvt openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to be in veterinary telehealth triage, virtual client education, or administrative coordination roles rather than direct clinical care.
How can I get hired as a lvt in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to veterinary assistant or kennel technician roles at general practices or emergency hospitals in Virginia while completing or recently finishing an AVMA-accredited program. Large Virginia employers such as Banfield Pet Hospital and VCA Animal Hospitals offer new-graduate onboarding and mentored clinical transitions for candidates who hold or are close to earning their Virginia license. Completing your VTNE before applying and noting hands-on externship hours in your application materials gives you a measurable edge over candidates who have not yet tested.
Where can I find and apply to lvt jobs in Virginia?
You can find and apply to lvt jobs in Virginia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
