LVT Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a lvt in Minnesota?
To become a licensed veterinary technician in Minnesota, you must graduate from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program, pass the VTNE, and register with the Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine. The Board oversees registration and renewal for all veterinary technicians practicing in the state. Most accredited programs in Minnesota are two-year associate degrees, though bachelor's-level options exist for those pursuing specialty credentials.
Which companies hire lvts in Minnesota?
Employers hiring lvts in Minnesota right now include Lakefield Veterinary, Vetcor, and Maple Grove Pet Hospital, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The Twin Cities metro anchors most of the activity, with specialty and emergency hospitals alongside corporate clinic groups driving the bulk of open roles.
Which Minnesota cities have the most lvt jobs?
Minneapolis, Saint Louis Park, and Baxter have the most lvt openings in Minnesota. The Twin Cities metro dominates because of its concentration of specialty hospitals, emergency clinics, and the University of Minnesota's veterinary programs, while Rochester and Duluth draw consistent demand from regional veterinary practices and referral centers serving broader rural catchment areas.
Are there remote lvt jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, but they're rare. Veterinary technician work is almost entirely hands-on, requiring direct patient care, anesthesia monitoring, and diagnostic procedures that cannot be performed remotely. About 0% of lvt openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those roles are typically limited to veterinary telehealth triage, client education coordination, or practice consulting positions.
How can I get hired as a lvt in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a veterinary assistant or technician support role at a large Minnesota practice while completing or just finishing an AVMA-accredited program. The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine and BluePearl's Twin Cities locations periodically bring on new graduates for supervised technician roles. Earning your VTNE registration before applying gives you a clear edge, and lateral moves from kennel attendant or veterinary receptionist positions at established multi-doctor practices are a common way in.
Where can I find and apply to lvt jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to lvt jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings across general practice, emergency, specialty, and academic veterinary settings. Find roles that fit your experience and credentials and apply directly to the employer.
