About Satlantis:
Satlantis builds high-performance satellite systems and the data-processing pipelines that turn what they see into decisions. Our Earth-observation payloads and analytics support customers working on environmental and infrastructure monitoring, maritime awareness, and defense. These are problems where image quality and model accuracy have direct real-world consequences.
Our Gainesville, Florida team owns high-performance data processing, deployed analytics, and intelligence products, together with the tooling that keeps throughput high. Learn more at www.satlantis.com.
The Opportunity:
Satlantis US is building its core computer vision and machine learning function from the ground up, and we are looking for our Founding Computer Vision & ML Engineer / Tech Lead.
In this role, you will own the technical direction for imagery understanding and applied machine learning across our cutting-edge Earth-observation products—and you will build and lead the team that delivers them.
You will report directly to a CTO with deep machine learning expertise, giving you a genuine technical sparring partner rather than a corporate management layer. This is a true 50/50 hands-on leadership role: you will spend half your time prototyping complex vision problems, reviewing architectures, and writing code, and the other half setting the roadmap, scaling your team, and collaborating with our mission teams and international engineering counterparts in Spain.
If you want your judgment about vision systems to fundamentally shape a company’s product line rather than just a single workstream, this is your platform.
What You’ll Own:
- The CV/ML Roadmap: Define our 12–18 month strategy for Earth-observation imagery understanding (segmentation, detection, change detection, semantic retrieval, and anomaly detection).
- Team Building & Culture: Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team, establishing rigorous standards for evaluation, reproducibility, and peer review.
- Production & Scale: Partner with software and platform engineering to ship models into production, maximizing resources like the University of Florida’s HiPerGator AI supercomputer.
- Global Collaboration: Partner seamlessly with image processing and mission peers at our headquarters in Spain to align on shared standards, tooling, and datasets.
What We’re Looking For (required):
- Experience: 5+ years in computer vision, machine learning, or applied AI, with a proven track record of delivering vision models into operational use or production.
- Leadership: 2+ years leading engineers as a manager or technical lead (including hiring, mentorship, and team accountability).
- Technical Depth: Deep command of computer vision fundamentals (image representations, geometric reasoning, dense prediction, detection, segmentation).
- Stack Fluency: Strong Python skills with hands-on depth in PyTorch and practical fluency in training/inference optimization.
- Mindset: A builder who loves writing clean, maintainable code just as much as setting architectural vision.
Location & Work Model:
This is a full-time, on-site role in Gainesville, Florida. Leading this team means being in the room with the engineers and product colleagues you work alongside; we are not able to offer a remote arrangement for this position.
Work Authorization:
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN – The selected candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. This position does not provide employment visa sponsorship; candidates must possess permanent, unrestricted legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience, supplemented by a performance-based bonus. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with paid time off.
Why Join Satlantis?
- Be part of a pioneering company at the forefront of space technology.
- Work on challenging and impactful projects that have real-world applications.
- Collaborate with a team of brilliant and passionate engineers and scientists.
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Opportunity for professional growth and development in a rapidly expanding industry.
- Enjoy the vibrant community and quality of life in Gainesville, Florida. Learn more at https://www.visitgainesville.com/.

- Resume / CV
- Upload your latest resume highlighting your experience building, deploying, and scaling machine learning systems.
- Production Case Study Note
- Provide a short note focusing on a computer vision system you personally led into production. Please candidly address:
- What you decided: Your core engineering choices, architecture, or model selections.
- What you got wrong: The unexpected real-world edge cases, scaling bottlenecks, or failures the system encountered.
- What you would do differently: The technical adjustments or alternative approaches you would take today based on what you learned.

Machine Learning Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a machine learning engineer in Florida?
Most Florida employers require a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related field, with a master's degree preferred for senior roles. Florida has no state-issued license for machine learning work, so hiring decisions center on demonstrated technical skills, portfolio projects, and certifications from recognized cloud providers. Building a GitHub portfolio with real project work and earning credentials such as the AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty strengthens competitiveness in Florida's market considerably.
Which companies hire machine learning engineers in Florida?
Employers hiring machine learnings in Florida right now include Jobot, PODS, and Mosai, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's defense corridor along the Space Coast and its growing Miami fintech scene mean large contractors and financial technology firms are among the most consistent sources of machine learning openings statewide.
Which Florida cities have the most machine learning jobs?
Tampa, Miami, and Orlando lead Florida for machine learning openings. Miami drives volume through its fintech and healthtech sectors, Tampa's concentration of financial services firms and defense contractors sustains steady demand, and Orlando's technology corridor anchors openings tied to simulation, gaming, and healthcare AI employers based there.
Are there remote machine learning jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 56% of machine learning openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work is research, model development, and code-based rather than on-site. Roles involving production deployment, security-cleared defense work, or hospital system integration tend to require at least a hybrid schedule.
How can I get hired as a machine learning engineer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a data analyst or data engineering role at a Florida employer, then transitioning as you build ML project experience. Florida-based healthcare systems like AdventHealth and technology contractors along the Space Coast regularly hire associate data scientists and junior AI developers from new-graduate applicant pools. Building a portfolio of end-to-end projects on GitHub, earning a cloud ML certification, and targeting rotational early-career programs at Florida's larger tech employers gives candidates without direct experience a competitive starting point.
Where can I find and apply to machine learning jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to machine learning jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly to the employer through the posting.
