Job Summary
The Protein Manufacturing Technician I supports the production, validation, and packaging of high-quality assay consumables and reagents. This role operates in a high-throughput laboratory environment under strict ISO 13485 quality standards.
Work Schedule and Shifts:
We are looking to fill two distinct full-time shifts. Candidates must be available for one of the following schedules:
Mid Shift: Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Education and Experience Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.S. / B.A.) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
Experience Level: 0 to 2 years of professional laboratory or biotechnology manufacturing experience.
* Note: This is an entry-to-junior level role; candidates with a Master's degree or Ph.D. will not be considered.
Minimum Qualifications (Strict Requirements)
Quality Standards:* Direct, hands-on experience working within an ISO 13485 certified or highly regulated medical device/IVD manufacturing environment is strictly required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Production: Manufacture assay consumables and reagents following established protocols with minimal supervision.
Validation & Packaging: Validate manufactured assay components, organize inventory, and package products for shipping.
Quality Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of manufacturing processes, instruments, and non-conformances in strict adherence to ISO 13485 standards.
Deviations: Track process deviations, inform team leads, and assist with initial troubleshooting.
Equipment Care: Operate laboratory instruments, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot basic instrumentation issues.
R&D Support: Support new product development and continuous improvement efforts. Use internal testing platforms to design and execute ELISA assays.
Collaboration: Partner with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve robust assays and facilitate seamless operational workflows.
Lab Upkeep: Maintain the lab facility in a clean, orderly, and safe manner through effective communication with staff.
General:* Perform additional tasks as assigned to meet business needs.

Technical Proficiency: Experience executing ELISA assays and operating standard laboratory equipment.
Quality Mindset: Deep understanding of quality management systems, document control, and traceability.
Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately track process deviations and maintain rigorous documentation.
Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to collaborate across research, engineering, and support teams.
Problem Solving:* Ability to identify instrument issues and assist with root-cause troubleshooting.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Lifting: Ability to occasionally lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Mobility: Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods during the workday.
PPE Requirements: Compliance with laboratory safety protocols, including wearing lab coats, gowns, and PPE for extended periods.
Chemical Safety: Ability to safely handle, work with, and dispose of hazardous chemicals.
Temperature Sensitivity: Ability to work around and manage inventory in refrigerators and freezers (4°C to -80°C).
Flexibility: Adaptability to adjust work schedules to accommodate changing workloads and strict deadlines.
Compensation
The hourly range for this position is $30-$32 per hour, in accordance with California’s pay transparency laws. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
