Fairmount Technologies (FT) is a growing advanced manufacturing company developing tooling-free CNC systems that dramatically reduce cost and lead time for aerospace and defense manufacturers. Our machines are already in production, running on real factory floors, and demand is accelerating.
Recent milestone: FT was selected for a U.S. Department of Defense APFIT award, supporting deployment of our systems across multiple Air Force maintenance depots. This marks a major step as we scale production and expand our engineering team.
We’re looking for an Automation & Controls Engineer to join our small, highly technical team and help design, build, and deploy next-generation machine tools.
What You’ll Be Working On
You’ll contribute across the full lifecycle of our machine control systems, including:
- Designing and implementing control software for advanced electromechanical systems
- Developing and testing motion control, PLC logic, safety systems, and HMIs
- Integrating electrical hardware, control software, and external equipment into cohesive machine systems
- Writing and refining control logic (e.g., Structured Text, Function Block Diagrams)
- Creating and reviewing control panel designs and system architectures
- Running extensive testing and trial runs to verify functionality and performance
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, and communication issues efficiently
- Improving existing control software for reliability, performance, and maintainability
- Developing operations documentation, manuals, and training materials
- Ensuring proper communication between programs, machines, networks, and external devices
This is a hands-on role focused on new machine development and production systems, not just maintenance or support.
Why This Role Is Different
- Small company → big technical ownership from day one
- Highly unique machine tools and smart manufacturing systems
- Blend of automation, electrical, motion, and systems-level engineering
- Direct involvement in machines that go from prototype to customer deployment
- Opportunity to grow technically and professionally as production ramps up
You’ll see your work move from concept → machine → factory floor.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary based on experience and scope of role (Typical range: $80,000–$120,000+)
- Flexible working hours
- Profit sharing, so you benefit directly from the company’s success
- Opportunity to earn phantom equity, allowing you to share in the value you help create (phantom equity provides real economic upside without the complexity or tax burden of traditional equity ownership)
- Direct access to leadership and technical decision-making
- A chance to grow with the company as manufacturing scales
This Role Might Be Right for You If
- You enjoy working at the intersection of automation, electrical systems, and software
- You like designing control systems for new machines
- You’re comfortable testing, debugging, and improving real hardware/software systems
- You want your work to matter in a small, growing engineering team
- You’re excited by advanced manufacturing, CNC systems, and automation
- You have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field (or equivalent hands-on experience) and ~3+ years working with PLCs, motion control, or electromechanical automation systems.
Experience with PLCs, motion control, and electromechanical systems is important. Experience with Beckhoff systems, MATLAB, or model-based control design is a plus — but curiosity, ownership, and problem-solving matter just as much as specific tools.
This role requires good manual dexterity and the ability to lift 50+ lbs.
You don’t need to meet every qualification — if this work sounds exciting, we encourage you to apply.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Dental insurance
- Flexible schedule
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
- Vision insurance
Work Location: In person

Marketing Automation Specialist Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing automation specialist in Kansas?
A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or business is the standard entry point, and no state-issued license is required in Kansas. Most Kansas employers expect hands-on platform certification, such as HubSpot's Marketing Software or Salesforce Marketing Cloud certifications, which you can earn independently. Building a portfolio of campaign workflows, lead scoring models, or email sequence examples strengthens an application for Kansas roles considerably.
How much do marketing automation specialists make in Kansas?
Marketing automation specialists in Kansas earn a median of about $70,430 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $38,540 for the lowest 10% to over $128,650 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketing automation specialists in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring marketing automation specialists in Kansas include CBRE, Amcor, and Standard Motor Products, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's large financial services, technology manufacturing, and healthcare sectors consistently produce the most steady demand for this role.
Which Kansas cities have the most marketing automation specialist jobs?
Overland Park, Wichita, and Lawrence have the most marketing automation specialist openings in Kansas. Overland Park and Kansas City benefit from the metro area's dense concentration of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and regional offices of national brands, while Wichita's base of aerospace, manufacturing, and healthcare companies drives its share of openings.
Are there remote marketing automation specialist jobs in Kansas?
Yes, and more than most fields. Marketing automation is fundamentally a desk-based, software-driven role, so remote arrangements are common. About 41% of marketing automation specialist openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well this work translates to distributed teams. Campaign management, platform administration, and reporting tasks are the functions most frequently performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a marketing automation specialist in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from an adjacent role such as email marketing coordinator, marketing analyst, or digital marketing associate at a Kansas employer that already uses an automation platform. Large Overland Park and Wichita employers in financial services and healthcare often post associate-level marketing operations roles that serve as on-ramps. Earning a free HubSpot or Salesforce Marketing Cloud certification and building a sample workflow portfolio signals readiness even without formal job history in the title.
