Job Description
- The internship will focus on 3D simulation of the following topics
- Mixture preparation process in the engine, resulting in a quantitative assessment of fuel wall film formation and subsequent soot formation.
- Thermal simulations including 2 phase conjugate heat transfer of components associated with the automotive thermal systems.
- Heat exchangers and flow path optimization.
- The intern will contribute by validating CFD models using measurement data from tests, and develop optimized designs for engine sprays, thermal units and heat exchangers to improve performance/efficiency and mitigate existing problems.
- The intern will also contribute towards identifying and proposing process improvement methods in CFD.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently pursuing or completed a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace engineering or similar discipline with strong interest in engine simulation
- Existing experience in working with 3D simulation tools such as AVL Fire, Converge etc.
- Experience with CAD modifications
- Ability to work independently
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctoral (PhD) student in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace engineering or similar discipline
- Experience with IC engine testing
- Experience with 1D simulation tool GT-Power
