Finance Intern Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance intern in Michigan?
Finance intern roles in Michigan do not require a state-issued license, so the path centers on education and targeted preparation. Most Michigan employers expect active enrollment in a finance, accounting, business, or economics program at a Michigan university or college. Building proficiency in Excel-based financial modeling, completing relevant coursework in corporate finance or accounting, and pursuing CFA Institute or Accounting Society memberships through your school all strengthen applications for Michigan internship programs.
Which companies hire finance interns in Michigan?
Employers hiring finance interns in Michigan right now include General Motors (GM), ZF, and Meijer, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's concentration of automotive headquarters, regional banks, and large healthcare systems means finance intern demand is unusually broad across industries compared to single-sector markets.
Which Michigan cities have the most finance intern jobs?
The cities with the most finance intern openings in Michigan are Warren, Grand Rapids, and Monroe. Detroit and its suburbs drive the largest share of postings because of the automotive industry headquarters, major regional banks like Comerica, and large healthcare networks based there, while Grand Rapids contributes openings through its manufacturing and financial services sector and Ann Arbor adds university-affiliated and healthcare system roles.
Are there remote finance intern jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and they're more common than in many fields, since financial analysis and modeling work is largely desk-based and transferable to remote settings. About 43% of finance intern openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the analytical nature of the role suits distributed work. The most remote-friendly sub-areas are financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting, while roles involving direct client interaction or physical audit work tend to remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a finance intern in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured internship programs at large Michigan employers, which are designed for candidates without prior professional experience. Ford Motor Company, Stellantis, and Beaumont Health, among others, run formal summer finance internship cohorts that recruit from Michigan universities. On-campus finance clubs, case competitions through the University of Michigan or Michigan State University, and a well-organized Excel or financial modeling portfolio can substitute effectively for work history when applying to these programs.
Where can I find and apply to finance intern jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to finance intern jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings in one place. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to each one.
