Finance Intern Jobs in Wisconsin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance intern in Wisconsin?
Most Wisconsin employers require active enrollment in a bachelor's program in finance, accounting, business administration, or a closely related field at an accredited Wisconsin institution such as UW-Madison, Marquette University, or UW-Milwaukee. Finance internships do not require a state-issued license in Wisconsin. Strong candidates typically complete relevant coursework in financial accounting and corporate finance before applying, and many secure placements through campus recruiting events hosted by Wisconsin-based firms each fall and spring semester.
Which companies hire finance interns in Wisconsin?
Companies currently hiring finance interns in Wisconsin include CVS Health, Walgreens, and Ascension, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Wisconsin's concentration of insurance headquarters, regional banks, and Fortune 500 financial services firms makes it one of the more active intern markets in the Midwest.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most finance intern jobs?
Madison, Milwaukee, and Pleasant Prairie have the most finance intern openings in Wisconsin. Milwaukee leads due to its dense cluster of financial services headquarters including Northwestern Mutual and Fiserv, while Madison draws demand from state government finance roles and a strong university recruiting pipeline, and Green Bay benefits from regional banking and insurance employers anchored in the Fox Valley corridor.
Are there remote finance intern jobs in Wisconsin?
Yes, and more than many entry-level roles, since analytical and reporting tasks translate well to remote work. About 18% of finance intern openings tied to Wisconsin are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly desk-based the role is. Financial analysis, budget modeling, and data reporting tasks are the functions most commonly performed fully remote, while treasury operations and client-facing work tend to remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a finance intern in Wisconsin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to structured intern programs at large Wisconsin employers before your junior year. Northwestern Mutual, American Family Insurance, and Fiserv all run formalized summer programs open to students with no prior finance experience. Students who secure roles in campus accounting offices, university investment funds, or student-run financial consulting organizations at UW-Madison or Marquette build the portfolio evidence Wisconsin employers look for most. Completing the CFA Institute's free Investment Foundations certificate also gives candidates a concrete credential that stands out in early-stage applications.
Where can I find and apply to finance intern jobs in Wisconsin?
