Finance Intern Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance intern in Texas?
Most finance intern roles in Texas require enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in finance, accounting, economics, or a closely related field. Texas does not require a state license to work as a finance intern, though students pursuing roles in securities or investment may eventually need FINRA registration. Building proficiency in Excel and financial modeling, completing relevant coursework, and applying through university career centers at Texas schools like UT Austin, SMU, and Rice are the most reliable paths to landing a position.
Which companies hire finance interns in Texas?
Companies currently hiring finance interns in Texas include Energy Transfer, Sysco, and Kiewit Corporation, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, regional banks, and Fortune 500 headquarters makes it one of the more diverse markets for finance intern placements in the country.
Which Texas cities have the most finance intern jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and Austin account for the largest share of finance intern openings in Texas. Houston's dominance in energy and petrochemical corporate finance, Dallas's concentration of financial services and insurance headquarters, and Austin's growing technology and venture-backed company ecosystem each drive consistent intern demand in their respective markets.
Are there remote finance intern jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than many field-based roles, since financial analysis and modeling work is well suited to remote collaboration. About 69% of finance intern openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader flexibility in desk-based finance work. Roles focused on data analysis, financial reporting, and investor research tend to offer the most remote availability, while treasury and client-facing positions are more likely to require on-site attendance.
How can I get hired as a finance intern in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to structured summer intern programs designed specifically for students with limited professional experience. Large Texas employers like Bank of America's Dallas offices, ConocoPhillips in Houston, and Charles Schwab in Westlake run new-grad and early-career intern programs that recruit through university pipelines rather than requiring prior finance work history. Lateral moves from adjacent roles like accounting assistant or financial services customer support can also open doors, and earning a Bloomberg Market Concepts certification or completing CFA Institute coursework gives candidates a concrete credential edge without needing prior employment.
Where can I find and apply to finance intern jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to finance intern jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Texas locations. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the positions that match.
