Summer Associate Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a summer associate in Texas?
Most summer associate positions in Texas require enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school or a top-ranked MBA program, with applications submitted through on-campus recruiting in the fall semester. Law-focused roles typically target students after their first year, while consulting and finance roles recruit from second-year MBA candidates. Building a record in relevant coursework, law review, or case competitions strengthens applications at Texas firms and corporations.
Which companies hire summer associates in Texas?
Employers hiring summer associates in Texas right now include Allan Rae Morgan, Hayre-Harter Ranches, and Sanmina, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, large law firms, and financial services headquarters means summer associate programs here tend to be sizable and well-structured compared with many other states.
Which Texas cities have the most summer associate jobs?
Carrollton, Gustine, and Marfa account for the largest share of summer associate openings in Texas. Houston drives volume through its energy sector headquarters and major law firms, Dallas attracts finance, consulting, and corporate legal roles, and Austin's growing technology and venture capital scene has added a newer but expanding cluster of summer associate opportunities.
Are there remote summer associate jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they are rare. Summer associate roles are designed around in-person mentorship, client exposure, and structured programming, so most firms and companies require on-site attendance. About 0% of summer associate openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be concentrated in research-heavy or technology-adjacent practice areas where independent project work is more common.
How can I get hired as a summer associate in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying through your law school's or MBA program's on-campus recruiting process, where Texas employers like Sidley Austin, Vinson and Elkins, and McKinsey recruit directly from campuses each fall. Clinics, pro bono projects, and semester-long internships at Texas agencies or courts build the practical record firms look for. Candidates without prior internship experience can strengthen their candidacy by competing in moot court, joining a journal, or completing a fellowship at a Texas legal aid organization.
Where can I find and apply to summer associate jobs in Texas?
