Summer Associate Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a summer associate in Maryland?
Most summer associate roles in Maryland require enrollment in an accredited JD or MBA program, with applications opening in the fall for the following summer. Law-focused roles typically require completion of your first year of law school before the summer begins. Maryland law firms recruit through on-campus interview programs at schools like University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and Howard University School of Law. Business and finance roles follow a similar academic calendar, with firms targeting second-year MBA students.
Which companies hire summer associates in Maryland?
Employers hiring summer associates in Maryland right now include Constellation Energy, Bozzuto, and JPMorganChase, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Maryland's concentration of law firms, federal contractors, and financial services companies in Baltimore and the D.C. corridor means structured summer programs are common across multiple industries.
Which Maryland cities have the most summer associate jobs?
Lusby, Baltimore, and Greenbelt have the most summer associate openings in Maryland. Baltimore leads because it is home to major law firms, financial institutions like T. Rowe Price, and large hospital systems, while Annapolis draws legal associates tied to state government and regulatory practices, and the Montgomery County and Bethesda corridor attracts government contractors and consulting firms serving the federal market.
How can I get hired as a summer associate in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying through your law school or graduate program's on-campus recruiting pipeline before you have substantive experience, since summer associate programs are designed for students, not career changers. Maryland employers like Venable, Miles and Stockbridge, and regional offices of national firms specifically recruit first and second-year students. Participating in a law school clinic, student journal, or moot court gives your application a concrete edge, as does any prior paralegal, financial analyst, or policy research role that demonstrates relevant analytical work.
Where can I find and apply to summer associate jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to summer associate jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings across law firms, financial services companies, and government contractors. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your program year and practice area interest, and apply directly to each employer through the listing.
