Business Intelligence Intern Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business intelligence intern in Maryland?
Most Maryland employers recruit business intelligence interns directly from undergraduate and graduate programs in computer science, information systems, statistics, or business analytics. There is no state-issued license required for this role in Maryland. Candidates strengthen their applications by completing coursework in SQL, data visualization, and statistics, and by building a portfolio of projects using tools like Tableau or Power BI. Applying to intern-specific programs at Maryland's large government contractors, health systems, and financial institutions is the most direct path.
Which companies hire business intelligence interns in Maryland?
Maryland business intelligence intern roles are posted by Leidos, Parsons, and Peraton and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maryland's concentration of federal contractors, health insurers, and technology firms means BI intern openings appear across a wide range of industries throughout the year.
Which Maryland cities have the most business intelligence intern jobs?
Baltimore, Annapolis Junction, and Fort Meade have the most business intelligence intern openings in Maryland. Baltimore drives volume through its large health systems and financial institutions, while Bethesda and Rockville attract postings from the dense corridor of federal contractors, consulting firms, and government agencies operating near the D.C. border.
Are there remote business intelligence intern jobs in Maryland?
Yes, and more than most intern fields, since business intelligence work is largely desk-based and output-focused. About 41% of business intelligence intern openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how naturally the role adapts to distributed work. Tasks like SQL querying, dashboard development, and report building are especially well-suited to remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a business intelligence intern in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to structured internship programs at Maryland's large government contractors and health systems, which regularly hire students without prior professional BI experience. Employers like Leidos and CareFirst run rotational and summer intern programs designed for candidates still in school. Building a portfolio with two or three completed projects in Tableau or Power BI, even from coursework, gives a strong edge.
