Business Intelligence Intern Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business intelligence intern in Illinois?
The most direct path is enrolling in a business analytics, data science, or information systems program at an Illinois university and applying for internships during your sophomore or junior year. Illinois has no state-issued license or registration for this role. Employers at Chicago-area firms and suburban tech corridors like Naperville and Schaumburg look for coursework in database management, statistics, and data visualization alongside a portfolio of class or independent projects.
Which companies hire business intelligence interns in Illinois?
Companies currently hiring business intelligence interns in Illinois include RSM, Ryan Companies US, and Diversified Services Network, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's dense concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and financial services firms in the Chicago metro makes it one of the more active Midwestern states for BI internship openings year-round.
Which Illinois cities have the most business intelligence intern jobs?
Chicago, Peoria, and Lansing have the most business intelligence intern openings in Illinois. Chicago leads by a wide margin because of its concentration of financial services, insurance, and consulting headquarters, while suburban hubs like Naperville and Schaumburg attract openings from large technology and manufacturing companies that have moved or expanded operations outside the city core.
Are there remote business intelligence intern jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 81% of business intelligence intern openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based, data-driven nature of the work. Responsibilities like dashboard building, SQL querying, and report automation transfer well to remote settings, while team onboarding and stakeholder presentations are the tasks most likely to require occasional in-office attendance.
How can I get hired as a business intelligence intern in Illinois with little or no experience?
Building a portfolio of self-directed projects using public datasets is the most realistic first step for candidates without prior internship experience. Illinois universities including University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and DePaul run co-op and practicum programs that place students directly with Chicago-area employers. Roles like data entry analyst, junior reporting analyst, or operations associate at large Illinois insurers, logistics companies, or retailers frequently serve as lateral entry points into BI teams.
Where can I find and apply to business intelligence intern jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to business intelligence intern jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings updated regularly. Search for roles that match your skills and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit. No account or profile creation is needed to see the listings.
