Consulting Intern Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a consulting intern in Maryland?
Becoming a consulting intern in Maryland typically starts with enrollment in a business, public policy, economics, or STEM degree program at a Maryland institution such as the University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins, or Loyola. Many Maryland firms, particularly federal contractors, prefer candidates who can pass a background investigation, so maintaining a clean record matters early. Targeted coursework in data analysis, strategy, or government operations strengthens applications significantly.
Which companies hire consulting interns in Maryland?
Maryland consulting intern roles are posted by CVS Health, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, and Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maryland's concentration of federal agencies and defense contractors makes it one of the most active states for management and technology consulting internships outside of major financial centers.
Which Maryland cities have the most consulting intern jobs?
Baltimore, Frederick, and Bethesda lead Maryland in consulting intern openings. Bethesda and Rockville draw heavily from the federal contractor corridor along Interstate 270, where firms serving NIH, DARPA, and other agencies cluster, while Baltimore anchors a separate market tied to financial services, healthcare consulting, and state government advisory work.
Are there remote consulting intern jobs in Maryland?
Yes, and more than in many fields. About 48% of consulting intern openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the work. Strategy, data, and research-focused rotations are most likely to offer remote flexibility, while client-site and government-facing roles typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a consulting intern in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured summer internship programs at Maryland's large federal contractors, including Booz Allen Hamilton and Leidos, both of which recruit undergraduates with no prior consulting experience through campus pipelines at Maryland universities. Lateral moves from research assistant, policy analyst, or financial analyst roles at Maryland nonprofits or state agencies are common stepping stones. A strong academic record and any clearance eligibility give candidates a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to consulting intern jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to consulting intern jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your background, school schedule, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
