Mechanical Technician Jobs in Pennsylvania

M. Davidson & Associates Inc. is a family-owned and operated company based in Jamestown, PA. We operate approximately 35 water and wastewater treatment facilities throughout Western and Northwestern Pennsylvania.

We are currently looking for a dependable, energetic, and mechanically inclined person to join our team in the Mercer County area. This is a hands-on position for someone who likes staying busy, working independently and with a team, and isn’t afraid to troubleshoot a problem and get their hands dirty.

Strong mechanical knowledge is very important for this position. Our employees work around pumps, motors, blowers, piping, electrical components, lawn equipment, and many other types of equipment. Things break, and we need someone who is comfortable figuring out what is wrong and working toward a solution. We don’t expect you to know how to fix everything, but we do need someone who already has a good mechanical foundation, knows their way around tools and equipment, and is willing to jump in and try to solve a problem with help from the rest of our team when needed.

Previous water or wastewater experience is not required. We can teach you the treatment side of the job. For employees interested in making this a career, we also pay for the training and testing needed to obtain a Pennsylvania Water or Wastewater Operator license.

This position offers a flexible work schedule and $0.50 per mile reimbursement for work-related travel. Because we operate multiple facilities, employees generally work at several facilities in their area rather than reporting to the same location every day.

Work Schedule & Call-Outs

One of the benefits of this position is a flexible work schedule. Employees have flexibility in choosing what time they start their workday, as long as their scheduled hours are completed and all assigned facility responsibilities are taken care of.

Because we operate water and wastewater treatment facilities, there are times when unexpected issues come up. Employees may occasionally need to respond to a grinder pump call, plant alarms, equipment issues, water/sewer problems, or other facility-related call-out.

For example, if you choose to start your day early and finish your scheduled hours in the early afternoon, an issue may come up later in the day that requires you to return to work. For this reason, some employees choose to start their workday a little later so that most calls fall within their normal working hours.

Call-outs are not the everyday schedule, but employees must be willing and able to respond when needed. Water and wastewater facilities operate continuously, and certain problems cannot wait until the following day.

Typical Schedule

• Part-time or full-time position
• Generally Monday through Friday
• Flexible start and end times
• May need to fill in for a weekend employee once in a while
• Occasional call-outs for grinder pumps, alarms, equipment problems, or other facility needs
• Work is performed at multiple assigned facilities, primarily in the Mercer County area
• $0.50 per mile reimbursement for work-related travel between assigned locations

The position offers a great deal of independence and flexibility, but we are looking for someone who is dependable and understands that occasionally an unexpected issue will require attention outside of their originally planned work hours.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
