About the Role
Supportive Care Specialists is hiring a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Palliative Care Physician to lead clinical care in San Francisco. You’ll deliver compassionate, patient-focused palliative care with real control over your schedule. A dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work beside you, so you can spend your time on patient care and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Daily Rounds: Direct patient rounds with an NP who handles follow-up visits, routine checks, and documentation.
- Manage Symptoms: Prescribe medications and oversee complex symptom management for patients with serious illness.
- Coordinate Care: Partner with primary care physicians and specialists, including cardiologists and oncologists.
- Guide Goals-of-Care Discussions: Help patients and families work through difficult medical decisions, treatment goals, and advance care planning.
- Build Care Plans: Develop individualized, proactive plans that keep patients safe and support the best possible outcomes.
- Support Care Transitions: Document in the EHR and ensure smooth handoffs, including from hospital to home.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: M.D. from an accredited medical school
- Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Palliative Medicine
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted California medical license and current DEA registration
- Skills: Excellent communication skills and a warm, patient-centered approach
- Experience: Acute care or LTAC experience is preferred but not required
