GSUL operates allcove Sacramento, an integrated youth wellness center designed to support individuals ages 12–25 through mental health services, peer support, physical wellness, substance use support, family/community support, and supported education and employment services.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Mental Health Clinician provides trauma-informed, youth-centered mental health services to adolescents and young adults ages 12–25 within the allcove integrated care model. This position is responsible for conducting assessments, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, care coordination, treatment planning, documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and community partners.
The Mental Health Clinician plays a critical role in supporting youth mental wellness, increasing access to behavioral health services, and helping create a safe, affirming, and culturally responsive environment for underserved youth and families.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide individual, family, and group counseling services to youth and young adults ages 12–25.
- Conduct mental health screenings, psychosocial assessments, and risk assessments.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and document progress in accordance with organizational and clinical standards.
- Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, safety planning, and referrals as needed.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with peer support specialists, care coordinators, community partners, schools, and external providers.
- Participate in case conferences, multidisciplinary team meetings, and supervision sessions.
- Support outreach, engagement, and psychoeducation activities for youth and families.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, mandated reporting, and applicable California behavioral health regulations.
- Support GSUL’s mission, values, equity initiatives, and commitment to culturally responsive care.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & EXPECTATIONS
- Work is performed in a youth-centered behavioral health and community-based setting.
- Position may require occasional evening or community-based activities.
- Employee must maintain professionalism, cultural humility, and trauma-informed practices at all times.
- Reliable attendance, collaboration, and timely documentation are essential functions of the role.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
- Current California BBS registration or licensure required (AMFT, ACSW, APCC, LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or licensed equivalent).
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing behavioral health services to youth, adolescents, or young adults preferred.
- Experience providing trauma-informed and culturally responsive care.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, and de-escalation techniques.
- Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, mandated reporting requirements, and California behavioral health regulations.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical clinical standards.
- Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and Microsoft Office applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working within integrated care, youth wellness, nonprofit, school-based, or community behavioral health settings.
- Bilingual skills strongly preferred.
- Experience facilitating groups and youth engagement activities.
- Experience working with underserved and historically marginalized populations.
- Knowledge of community-based behavioral health resources and referral systems.
REQUIRED COMPLIANCE & CLEARANCES
- Successful completion of Live Scan/Fingerprinting and background clearance.
- TB clearance and compliance with organizational health requirements.
- Completion of mandated reporter training and all required onboarding trainings.
- Ability to maintain compliance with GSUL and allcove policies and procedures.
