Mortgage Consultant Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a mortgage consultant in Pennsylvania?
To work as a mortgage consultant in Pennsylvania you must obtain a Mortgage Loan Originator license through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System, regulated in Pennsylvania by the Department of Banking and Securities. The process requires completing pre-licensure education hours, passing the SAFE MLO exam, and passing a background and credit check. Most employers expect at least a high school diploma, though a degree in finance or business strengthens your application.
How much do mortgage consultants make in Pennsylvania?
Mortgage consultants in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $69,300 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $39,990 for the lowest 10% to over $132,900 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire mortgage consultants in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring mortgage consultants in Pennsylvania right now include Wells Fargo, First Keystone Community Bank, and Fidelity Bank, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's large community banking sector and the presence of national lenders with regional headquarters in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh mean openings appear across a broad range of institution sizes.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most mortgage consultant jobs?
Philadelphia, Erie, and Easton have the most mortgage consultant openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia dominates due to its concentration of major bank branches and independent mortgage companies, while Pittsburgh's growing real estate market sustains consistent demand, and Allentown's expanding suburban corridor attracts lenders serving first-time homebuyers in the Lehigh Valley region.
Are there remote mortgage consultant jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, though they are less common than in purely analytical roles because mortgage consultants often meet clients and attend closings in person. About 0% of mortgage consultant openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with most remote arrangements covering the application intake, pre-approval, and processing stages rather than the full origination cycle.
How can I get hired as a mortgage consultant in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a mortgage loan processor or loan officer assistant role at a Pennsylvania community bank or credit union while completing your NMLS pre-licensure coursework. Institutions like Pennsylvania-based credit unions and regional banks regularly hire unlicensed associates and support their licensing through in-house training. Moving from a bank teller or customer service background is a recognized lateral entry, and holding your NMLS license before applying gives you a clear competitive edge.
Where can I find and apply to mortgage consultant jobs in Pennsylvania?
