Finance Specialist Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance specialist in Pennsylvania?
Most finance specialist roles in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration. Pennsylvania does not issue a state license specifically for finance specialists, but employers consistently prefer candidates who hold or are pursuing professional credentials such as the CPA through the Pennsylvania State Board of Accountancy or the CFA designation. Gaining experience through internships with Pennsylvania-based financial institutions or corporate finance departments strengthens your candidacy considerably.
How much do finance specialists make in Pennsylvania?
Finance specialists in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $78,610 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,680 for the lowest 10% to over $134,710 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire finance specialists in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring finance specialists in Pennsylvania right now include L3Harris, Primerica, and ServiceLink, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of insurance companies, large health systems, and asset management firms means finance specialist demand here is particularly tied to regulated industries with ongoing reporting and compliance needs.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most finance specialist jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Bristol have the most finance specialist openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia dominates due to its headquarters for asset managers, insurance carriers, and major health networks, while Pittsburgh's strength in banking, technology, and healthcare drives consistent hiring, and suburban corridors like King of Prussia attract openings from corporate back-office and financial services operations headquartered along the Route 202 corridor.
Are there remote finance specialist jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than many fields, since finance specialist work is primarily analytical and desk-based. About 60% of finance specialist openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work. Financial reporting, FP&A, and budget analysis functions are the most consistently available in remote or hybrid formats.
How can I get hired as a finance specialist in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to financial analyst associate or junior finance specialist roles at Pennsylvania's large insurance carriers, health systems, and banking institutions, many of which run structured new-graduate programs. Employers such as Independence Blue Cross and large regional banks in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh regularly hire entry-level candidates from finance and accounting programs at Pennsylvania universities. Completing an internship in corporate finance or financial operations and earning an entry-level credential such as the Bloomberg Market Concepts certificate can distinguish your application when competing without direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to finance specialist jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to finance specialist jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings. Find the roles that fit your experience and target location, then apply directly to each one.
