Entry Level Newscast Producer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level newscast producer job?
Start by building a portfolio of produced newscasts, even from student or campus media, that shows you can write to time, sequence stories, and hit a hard out. Employers at this level look for candidates who understand rundown structure, can work under deadline pressure, and have hands-on experience with broadcast production software. A completed internship at a local station gives you a significant edge.
Which companies hire entry level newscast producers?
Companies hiring entry level newscast producers right now include Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of local television affiliates, regional broadcast groups, and digital news outlets that regularly bring on junior producers to support daily newscasts.
Are there remote entry level newscast producer jobs?
Yes, though most newscast production work is on-site given the live broadcast environment. About 0% of entry level newscast producer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to be with digital-first news organizations or in roles focused on web and streaming content rather than traditional linear newscasts.
Are these new grad newscast producer jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior newscast producer roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or student media work toward that requirement, or explicitly accepts a portfolio in place of professional credits. Look for language like 'entry level' or 'will train' in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level newscast producers?
Entry Level newscast producer roles concentrate in Technology & Software and Media & Entertainment, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate daily live programming that depends on a steady pipeline of junior producers learning the craft alongside experienced staff.
