Entry Level Video Editor Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level video editor job?
Build a portfolio that shows range: short-form social clips, a branded promo, or a documentary-style cut give hiring managers something concrete to evaluate. Employers hiring at the entry level look for fluency in industry-standard editing software, an eye for pacing and storytelling, and the willingness to take direction. Internship experience, student projects, and self-initiated work all count at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level video editors?
Companies hiring entry level video editors right now include Chewy, MrBeast, and Superpower, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring comes from a wide range of employers, including media production companies, marketing agencies, in-house content teams at consumer brands, and digital-first startups building out their creative departments.
Are there remote entry level video editor jobs?
Yes, though the mix varies by employer and role type. About 17% of entry level video editor openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how many editing workflows can run fully online. Some on-site roles still exist, particularly at studios, broadcast outlets, and production houses that rely on shared equipment or in-person collaboration.
Are these new grad video editor jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior video editor roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship credits or student work as qualifying experience, or asks for a portfolio in place of a formal employment history. Look for language like 'entry level,' 'junior,' or 'no experience required' in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level video editors?
Entry Level video editor roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Media & Entertainment, and Chemicals & Materials, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they produce high volumes of video content, run ongoing social and digital campaigns, or have in-house production needs that junior editors can support from day one.
