The strongest path into Madison's np market runs through its health systems, academic medical practices, and specialty clinics anchored near UW Health and the University Avenue corridor. Candidates with experience in primary care, urgent care, or a specialty that aligns with Madison's population health needs stand out. Networking through UW-Madison's health sciences community and targeting federally qualified health centers on the Near East Side can also open doors quickly.
Which companies hire nps in Madison?
Employers hiring nps in Madison right now include UW Health, SSM Health, and Wellpath, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Madison's hiring landscape is dominated by large academic health systems, multispecialty group practices, and community health organizations spread across the isthmus and surrounding districts.
Are there remote np jobs in Madison?
Yes, though remote work is limited for nps given the hands-on, patient-facing nature of most roles. About 63% of np openings tied to Madison are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in telehealth, care management, and utilization review positions. Madison's larger health systems and insurance-affiliated employers are the most common source of those hybrid arrangements locally.
How can I get a np job in Madison with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Madison is targeting new-graduate NP roles at UW Health-affiliated clinics and federally qualified health centers, which regularly hire candidates straight out of training programs. Community health organizations on the Near East Side and rural health outreach programs tied to Madison institutions often prioritize candidates who are willing to work in underserved settings. Building clinical hours in Madison-area urgent care or primary care settings before applying to specialty roles also strengthens a new grad's profile significantly.
Which industries hire the most nps in Madison?
Most np openings in Madison sit in Education and Healthcare & Medical Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Madison's role as a major university and state capital city drives unusually high concentration of academic medicine, public health, and government-affiliated healthcare employers relative to its population size.
