Position Overview

The Respire Institute is a critical care, pulmonary, and sleep medicine practice seeking a motivated, compassionate, and clinically skilled Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine clinic practice.

We are looking for a provider who demonstrates strong clinical judgment, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care.

Experienced APPs are preferred; however, we welcome applications from highly motivated new graduates with a strong clinical background and a genuine interest in pulmonary and sleep medicine.

This position offers the opportunity to manage patients with a high degree of clinical autonomy while collaborating with experienced pulmonary and sleep medicine physicians. Training and mentorship are available for qualified new providers or new graduates to support their transition into specialty practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with pulmonary and sleep-related conditions within the APRN's scope of practice.
• Manage conditions including COPD, asthma, chronic cough, dyspnea, obstructive sleep apnea, lung nodules, and other respiratory and sleep disorders.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, physical examinations, and follow-up evaluations.
• Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
• Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies, including pulmonary function tests, chest imaging, laboratory testing, and sleep studies.
• Manage medications, oxygen therapy, CPAP/BiPAP, and other prescribed treatments.
• Educate patients regarding disease management, medication adherence, and preventive care.
• Coordinate care with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records.
• Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, and effective patient communication while working with the medical and clinic staff.

Required Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physican Assitant program.
• Current Texas APRN license or Physician Assistant License with the Texas Medical Board for Physician Assistants and a current national certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage patients with a high degree of clinical autonomy while collaborating appropriately with physicians.
• Genuine interest in pulmonary and sleep medicine.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 1–2 years of Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant experience preferred.
• Experience in pulmonary medicine, sleep medicine, internal medicine, critical care, or outpatient specialty care.
• New graduates with strong prior experience in pulmonary, critical care, emergency medicine, or related specialties will be considered.
• Familiarity with pulmonary function testing, sleep studies, and CPAP/BiPAP management.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a preferred.

Schedule & Practice Environment

• Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
• Full-time outpatient specialty practice.
