Healthcare Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a healthcare in Texas?
The path depends on your specific healthcare role, but most clinical positions in Texas require licensure through the Texas Medical Board, the Texas Board of Nursing, or the relevant allied health licensing board under the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. You will need to complete an accredited education program, pass the required national or state exam for your discipline, and apply for a Texas license before you can practice. Non-clinical healthcare roles typically require a relevant degree and may not require state licensure.
Which companies hire healthcares in Texas?
Employers hiring healthcares in Texas right now include Baylor Scott & White Health, Houston Methodist, and CHRISTUS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large and growing population supports a wide range of healthcare employers, from major academic medical centers and integrated health systems to community hospitals and specialty outpatient groups.
Which Texas cities have the most healthcare jobs?
Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas have the most healthcare openings in Texas. Houston leads due to the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, which alone houses dozens of hospitals and research institutions, while Dallas and San Antonio support large regional health systems and a growing concentration of specialty and outpatient care employers that drive consistent hiring across the state.
Are there remote healthcare jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they are rare for most clinical and hands-on roles. About 3% of healthcare openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how many positions require in-person patient care or on-site facility work. The areas most likely to offer remote options include medical coding, health information management, telehealth, utilization review, and healthcare administration.
How can I get hired as a healthcare in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a new-graduate or residency program at a large Texas health system. Baylor Scott & White Health, HCA Healthcare's Texas facilities, and CHRISTUS Health all run structured new-grad residency and fellowship programs designed for candidates without post-graduation experience. Entry-level roles such as patient care technician, medical assistant, or health unit coordinator are common stepping stones into clinical tracks. Completing a Texas state license or certification before applying, even for roles that do not strictly require it, gives candidates a competitive edge.
Where can I find and apply to healthcare jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to healthcare jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across clinical and non-clinical roles. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employer through the listing.
