Healthcare Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a healthcare in New York?
The path depends on your specific role, but most clinical healthcare positions in New York require a credential issued or recognized by the New York State Education Department's Office of the Professions. You typically complete an accredited degree or training program, pass the relevant licensing exam for your profession, and submit an application to NYSED. Non-clinical roles often require relevant education and demonstrated field experience rather than a state license.
Which companies hire healthcares in New York?
New York healthcare roles are posted by Optum, Walgreens, and Securitas and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New York's density of large academic medical centers, public hospital systems, and integrated health networks means hiring is active year-round across nearly every healthcare discipline.
Which New York cities have the most healthcare jobs?
New York, Brooklyn, and Middletown are the cities with the most healthcare openings in New York. New York City dominates by volume because of its concentration of major hospital systems, public health agencies, and specialty care networks, while Buffalo and Rochester are anchored by strong regional health systems and academic medical institutions that sustain consistent local demand.
Are there remote healthcare jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Most healthcare roles require in-person patient contact or on-site clinical work, so fully remote positions make up a small share of total openings. About 62% of healthcare openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and the roles most likely to qualify are in health informatics, medical coding, case management, and telehealth services.
How can I get hired as a healthcare in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a new-graduate residency or structured internship program, which large New York systems like Northwell Health and NYC Health + Hospitals run specifically for candidates without prior work history. Lateral moves from related roles such as medical assistant, home health aide, or patient care technician are also common entry points. Earning a New York State credential early and targeting entry-level postings at community health centers or federally qualified health centers gives candidates a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to healthcare jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to healthcare jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly without having to create a profile or sign up first.
