Healthcare Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a healthcare professional in New York?
The path depends on the specific role, but most clinical healthcare positions in New York require licensure or registration through the New York State Education Department's Office of the Professions, which oversees credentials for nurses, physicians, social workers, and many allied health titles. You'll need to complete an accredited degree program, pass the relevant licensure exam, and submit an application before practicing. Some roles, like medical assistants, have no state license requirement but benefit from national certification.
Which companies hire healthcares in New York?
Employers hiring healthcares in New York right now include NYU Langone Health, Trinity Health, and CVS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's healthcare hiring is heavily driven by its large academic medical centers, public hospital systems, and integrated regional health networks, which post consistently across clinical and administrative roles.
Which New York cities have the most healthcare jobs?
New York, Brooklyn, and Bronx have the most healthcare openings in New York. New York City dominates by volume given its density of academic medical centers, specialty hospitals, and public health infrastructure, while Buffalo and Albany generate strong demand through regional hospital systems, state agency offices, and university-affiliated health programs that anchor hiring in those metros.
Are there remote healthcare jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare for most hands-on clinical roles. About 4% of healthcare openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that the majority of positions require on-site patient contact or facility presence. The roles most likely to be remote are in health informatics, medical coding, utilization review, care coordination, and telehealth services.
How can I get hired as a healthcare professional in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a new-graduate or residency program at one of New York's large health systems: Northwell Health, NewYork-Presbyterian, and NYC Health + Hospitals all run structured new-grad residencies and apprenticeships in nursing and allied health. Candidates without direct experience can also move laterally from roles like medical scribe, patient care technician, or health unit coordinator. Completing a clinical internship, earning a nationally recognized certification, and applying through hospital career portals directly gives candidates a clear edge over general applications.
Where can I find and apply to healthcare jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to healthcare jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly through the listings.
