Nursing Aide Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nursing aide in Texas?
To become a nursing aide in Texas, you must complete a state-approved nurse aide training program and pass the Texas Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation, which includes both a written exam and a skills demonstration. After passing, you are listed on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry, maintained by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Many community colleges, vocational schools, and long-term care facilities across Texas offer the required training, often in a matter of weeks.
How much do nursing aides make in Texas?
Nursing aides in Texas earn a median of about $37,500 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $30,620 for the lowest 10% to over $47,500 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire nursing aides in Texas?
Employers hiring nursing aides in Texas right now include Prometric, AccentCare, and Ensign Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's dense network of hospital systems, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living communities means consistent openings across both major metros and smaller regional markets throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most nursing aide jobs?
Dallas, Amarillo, and Arlington are the Texas cities with the most nursing aide openings, driven by the concentration of large hospital systems, long-term care campuses, and senior living communities in each metro. Houston and Dallas each support dozens of major healthcare employers, while San Antonio's strong military veteran population and growing senior demographic fuel steady demand at facilities citywide.
Are there remote nursing aide jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Nursing aide work is fundamentally hands-on, requiring direct physical care and in-person presence with residents or patients. About 0% of nursing aide openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve care coordination, patient intake support, or telehealth assistance roles rather than direct bedside care.
How can I get hired as a nursing aide in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is enrolling in a short-term nurse aide training program, many of which are offered free or at low cost through Texas long-term care facilities that hire graduates directly upon completion. Large Texas operators like CHRISTUS Health and Baylor Scott and White Health run new hire orientation programs that bring on candidates with no prior clinical experience. Candidates coming from home health aide, personal care attendant, or medical assistant roles have a strong footing, and holding a current Texas Nurse Aide Registry listing before applying gives an immediate edge over unlisted candidates.
Where can I find and apply to nursing aide jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to nursing aide jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers actively hiring right now. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, preferred location, and care setting, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
