Oncologist Jobs in Jacksonville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a oncologist job in Jacksonville?
Candidates with board certification in medical, radiation, or hematologic oncology have the strongest footing in Jacksonville's market, where large health systems, dedicated cancer institutes, and multispecialty group practices do most of the hiring. Concentrating applications on the Southside and Northside medical corridors, where oncology infrastructure is densest, improves your odds. Fellowship training at an NCI-designated center and experience with tumor board participation tend to differentiate applicants in a market that values academic-clinical hybrid roles.
Which companies hire oncologists in Jacksonville?
Employers hiring oncologists in Jacksonville right now include OneOncology, Mayo Clinic, and Ethos Veterinary Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Jacksonville's oncology hiring is spread across large nonprofit health systems, affiliated outpatient cancer centers, and private multispecialty groups serving both the urban core and surrounding communities in Duval and St. Johns counties.
Are there remote oncologist jobs in Jacksonville?
Yes, though remote work is limited for oncologists given the hands-on, patient-facing nature of clinical practice. About 0% of oncologist openings tied to Jacksonville are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting a small but real demand. The remote-eligible roles in Jacksonville most often involve teleoncology consultations, tumor board participation, and utilization review positions that do not require direct patient examination.
How can I get a oncologist job in Jacksonville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a fellowship and applying directly to Jacksonville's large academic-affiliated health systems, which regularly onboard newly trained oncologists for attending positions with built-in mentorship. Locum tenens placements at community hospitals serving outer Duval County and neighboring Clay County are another practical on-ramp. Research coordinator and hematology-oncology hospitalist roles also allow early-career physicians to build local relationships before transitioning into a dedicated oncology practice.
Which industries hire the most oncologists in Jacksonville?
Most oncologist openings in Jacksonville sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, and Education, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Jacksonville's role as northeast Florida's primary referral hub drives strong institutional demand, with health systems drawing patients from a wide regional catchment and sustaining consistent oncology staffing needs across inpatient, outpatient, and infusion settings.
