Oncology Social Worker Jobs in Dallas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a oncology social worker job in Dallas?
Dallas hires oncology social workers most actively through its large academic medical centers, nonprofit hospital systems, and stand-alone cancer treatment facilities concentrated in the Medical District and the Parkland/UT Southwestern area. Candidates with experience in palliative care counseling, care coordination, or inpatient oncology settings have a clear edge locally. Volunteering or completing a clinical placement at a Dallas cancer program also strengthens your application significantly.
Which companies hire oncology social workers in Dallas?
Employers hiring oncology social workers in Dallas right now include UT Southwestern Medical Center, Medical City Healthcare, and Parkland Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Dallas's hiring base skews toward large integrated health systems and specialty cancer centers rather than small outpatient clinics, so most openings carry inpatient or multidisciplinary team requirements.
Are there remote oncology social worker jobs in Dallas?
Remote oncology social worker roles are uncommon because most of the work requires direct patient contact, bedside counseling, and in-person care team collaboration. About 44% of oncology social worker openings tied to Dallas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with those positions typically covering telehealth psychosocial support or administrative care coordination rather than direct clinical roles.
How can I get a oncology social worker job in Dallas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Dallas is securing a practicum or supervised field placement at one of the city's larger hospital systems or federally qualified health centers, many of which convert strong placement students into staff roles. Entry-level candidates often start as oncology care coordinators or social work case managers within hospital oncology units before moving into dedicated social worker positions. Bilingual Spanish skills are a genuine advantage across Dallas employer types.
Which industries hire the most oncology social workers in Dallas?
Dallas oncology social worker roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Agriculture & Farming, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Dallas's dense network of academic medical centers, nonprofit hospital systems, and regional cancer programs creates sustained demand across these sectors, particularly as the Medical District continues to expand specialty oncology services.
