Big Brothers Big Sisters has the following position available: Community Engagement Manager (Volunteer Recruitment) located in Arlington, TX.
Position Summary:
The Community Engagement Manager will maintain a consistent presence in the Greater Tarrant community on behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) for the purpose of cultivating, managing and sustaining partnerships with mentor-rich organizations. Further, this position will steward individual volunteers to the point of application. The candidate must be a skilled presenter; with a strong ability to share BBBS's mission and motivate individuals to take action by becoming volunteers. The candidate must be goal driven, organized, and provide excellent customer service.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities, and Activities
Strategy Volunteer Recruitment and Outreach:
- Execute volunteer recruitment strategies established by the Director of Community Engagement.
- Manage assigned recruitment territories, target audiences, partner portfolios, or strategic initiatives as directed.
- Contribute to team-wide volunteer inquiry and application goals through effective outreach and partnership development activities.
- Identify and pursue recruitment opportunities that align with agency priorities and current mentoring needs.
- Provide market intelligence, community feedback, and recruitment trends to help inform departmental strategy.
- Participate in team planning sessions and contribute ideas for improving recruitment effectiveness and community engagement.
Partner Development and Corporate Engagement:
- Develop and manage a portfolio of community and corporate partners that support volunteer recruitment objectives.
- Secure presentations, workplace engagement opportunities, volunteer fairs, networking events, and recruitment activations with assigned partners.
- Cultivate long-term relationships that generate recurring recruitment opportunities and sustainable volunteer pipelines.
- Collaborate within the Greater Tarrant Development Team to coordinate outreach efforts and maximize partner engagement.
- Represent BBBS professionally in community settings and serve as an ambassador for the organization's mission.
Presentations, Community Outreach and Tabling:
- Secure and conduct presentations, informational sessions, volunteer fairs, networking events, employer engagements, and community outreach opportunities.
- Identify and participate in tabling events, resource fairs, community festivals, university events, and volunteer expos that support recruitment objectives.
- Maintain a consistent presence throughout the community to increase awareness of mentoring opportunities and generate volunteer interest.
- Deliver engaging and mission-focused presentations designed to educate, inspire, and move prospective volunteers toward inquiry and application.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure adequate coverage and representation at recruitment events and community activities.
Lead Generation and Volunteer Pipeline Management:
- Generate qualified volunteer leads through presentations, outreach activities, community events, partner referrals, and corporate engagements.
- Manage follow-up activities within assigned prospect and partner portfolios.
- Steward prospective volunteers through the inquiry and application process by providing information, addressing barriers, and maintaining ongoing communication.
- Support agency-wide efforts to improve inquiry-to-application conversion rates.
- Work closely with Program staff to ensure recruitment efforts align with current volunteer needs and match priorities.
- Share successful outreach and conversion practices with team members to strengthen overall recruitment performance.
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience in sales, public relations, marketing, recruitment or related field; 2 to 3 years preferred
- Strong interest or entry level experience in sales, client management, and/or recruitment; 2 to 3 years preferred
- Must be a skilled presenter; with a strong ability to share BBBS's mission, and motivate individuals to take action by becoming volunteers
- Must be goal driven, organized, and customer-service minded
- Demonstrated experience working with multiple clients at one time
- Demonstrated track record of meeting goals and objectives
- Demonstrated intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Availability and flexibility to accommodate early weekday morning and evening hours and weekend hours, as well as travel to varying local venues
- Willingness to work within culturally diverse environment
