ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re hiring an Associate Field Marketing Manager to help execute the field programs that fuel our pipeline and deepen relationships with our best prospects and customers.
This is an early-career, execution-heavy role. You’ll live in the details: timelines, vendor coordination, event logistics, field communications, and on-site support — helping turn our field strategy into high-quality, repeatable programs.
You’ll work closely with our Sr. Director of Field Marketing & Corporate Events, Sales, and the broader Marketing team to support:
- Trade association programs (e.g., regional and national association events)
- Industry trade shows and conferences
- Hosted VIP experiences, roadshows, and field events
- Flagship BuildOps events and partner programs
If you love events, thrive in fast-moving environments, and want to learn field marketing from the ground up, this role is for you.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Execute Field & Association Programs:
- Support the planning and execution of field programs across key regions and segments — from initial brief through post-event follow-up.
- Own logistics for trade association events (booth and sponsorship deliverables, shipments, swag, print materials, lead capture setup, on-site schedules).
- Help coordinate regional trade shows, executive dinners, and customer meetups — including venue research, menus, AV needs, signage, and run-of-show.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to ensure the right accounts and attendees are invited, confirmed, and followed up with.
Drive Operational Excellence & On-Site Execution:
- Build and manage project plans and checklists for each program using our shared tools (e.g., Asana, Google Drive) so everyone knows what’s happening and when.
- Coordinate with vendors (venues, caterers, A/V, print, swag, shipping) and track deadlines, contracts, and invoices.
- Own on-site execution alongside the Sr. Director of Field Marketing & Corporate Events: booth setup, registration, signage placement, demos/materials, and “last-mile” details.
- Capture what worked (and what didn’t) after each event and help codify best practices into repeatable playbooks.
Support Hosted & Corporate Events:
- Provide execution support for hosted events like customer summits, VIP experiences, and partner activations — including registration workflows, communications, badges, gifting, and space layout.
- Coordinate speaker and internal stakeholder logistics (travel details, briefing docs, schedules, session timing).
- Work with the content and design team to ensure event assets (slides, landing pages, signage, one-pagers) are created and delivered on time.
Measure, Learn, and Improve:
- Ensure clean lead capture and handoff to Sales (scanners, forms, lists), working closely with Marketing Ops and RevOps.
- Track basic program performance (registrations, attendance, meetings set, lead quality) and help tie events back to pipeline and revenue.
- Use AI tools (including Glean) to speed up research, brief creation, outreach lists, and recap docs, in line with how the marketing team operates.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Experience & Skills:
- 1–3 years of experience in field marketing, event marketing, trade shows, demand gen, or related roles — preferably in B2B or SaaS.
- Hands-on experience helping to run events or programs: association events, conferences, executive dinners, workshops, or user groups.
- Strong project management and coordination skills — you’re comfortable juggling multiple workstreams, deadlines, and stakeholders.
- Experience with core GTM tools (some combination of Salesforce, HubSpot/Marketo, Asana or similar, and an event platform like Cvent, Splash, or comparable tools).
- High attention to detail — from name badges and room layouts to shipments and signage, you notice (and fix) the small things that make events feel professional.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working directly with Sales and external partners.
How You Operate:
- Bias for action. You like to get things moving, solve problems in real time, and keep work from stalling.
- Scrappy and resourceful. You can figure things out with incomplete information and limited guidance.
- Team-first. You enjoy being in the trenches with Sales, Marketing, and Customer teams, and you’re comfortable taking direction while also speaking up when something doesn’t look right.
- Calm under pressure. Events move fast; you stay steady, organized, and solutions-focused when something inevitably changes day-of.
- AI-native mindset. You’re curious about AI tools and open to using them to do your work faster and better — from research and drafting to recaps and reporting.
LOGISTICS
- Location: Raleigh, NC or Santa Monica, CA; hybrid role (expected 3 days/week in the office).
- Travel: Willingness to travel for events as needed up to approximately 50% of the time (including occasional evenings and weekends during peak event seasons).
WHY BUILDOPS
- Impact. You’ll help build the field and events engine behind a category-defining vertical AI company.
- Growth. You’ll work directly with a seasoned Sr. Director of Field Marketing & Corporate Events and a high-caliber GTM team, with clear exposure to how strategy and execution come together.
- Culture. We value people who are curious, action-oriented, and outcome-driven — and we operate with clear ownership, transparency, and a strong feedback culture.
If you’re excited to build a career in field marketing and want to own the execution that makes great programs possible, we’d love to talk.
COMPENSATION
- [$89,000 to $111,000] salary + bonus. (Santa Monica Hub)
What we offer:
- Generous equity grant, become an owner in our company!
- A comprehensive benefits package
- Flexible PTO and hybrid work schedules

Target employers with a history of H-1B sponsorship
Companies that regularly sponsor H-1B visas are far more likely to support OPT students through the authorization process. Check public LCA filings to identify which marketing-heavy employers have sponsored field marketing roles before applying.
Frame your degree as directly relevant to the role
OPT authorization requires your job to relate to your field of study. A marketing or communications degree maps cleanly to field marketing work. Be ready to explain that connection clearly on your resume and in interviews.
Apply before your OPT start date, not after
Most employers want someone who can start soon. Beginning your search two to three months before your OPT authorization starts gives you time to interview, receive an offer, and begin on day one of your work authorization window.
Clarify your full OPT timeline upfront
Let hiring managers know your exact OPT end date and whether STEM extension applies. Field marketing roles often involve multi-month campaign cycles, so employers need to know you can commit through a full project or season.
Prioritize mid-size and enterprise companies over small startups
Larger companies with established HR teams are more familiar with OPT paperwork and more willing to navigate it. Early-stage startups rarely have immigration experience and may pass on candidates requiring work authorization support.
Highlight event and campaign metrics in every application
Field marketing roles are results-driven. Employers sponsoring OPT or H-1B want proof of impact, not just participation. Quantify your experience with attendance numbers, lead generation results, or campaign conversion rates wherever possible.
Field Marketing Associate OPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Can I work as a Field Marketing Associate on F-1 OPT?
Yes, Field Marketing Associate roles generally qualify for F-1 OPT as long as the position is directly related to your field of study, such as marketing, communications, business, or a related discipline. Your job duties must align with your degree, so a role focused on campaign execution, brand activation, or lead generation maps well to most marketing programs.
Do Field Marketing Associate jobs typically lead to H-1B sponsorship?
Some do, but it depends on the employer. Field marketing roles at larger consumer brands, tech companies, and enterprise software firms are more likely to sponsor H-1B visas than roles at small agencies or local businesses. During your OPT period, build a documented track record of results and raise the sponsorship conversation early, ideally before your OPT expires.
Where can I find Field Marketing Associate jobs that are open to OPT students?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for F-1 OPT students and filters roles by sponsorship openness, so you are not wasting time applying to employers who will not consider candidates requiring work authorization. Browsing Field Marketing Associate listings on Migrate Mate helps you focus on companies already familiar with OPT and STEM extension.
Does a Field Marketing Associate role qualify for a STEM OPT extension?
It depends on your degree, not the job title. If you graduated from a STEM-designated program, such as marketing analytics, information systems, or a related technical field, and your field marketing role involves data analysis or technology components, you may qualify for the 24-month STEM extension. Confirm your degree's CIP code with your DSO before assuming eligibility.
What should I tell an employer about my OPT work authorization for this role?
Be direct and specific. Tell them you hold F-1 OPT authorization, provide your exact start and end dates, and clarify whether you are eligible for a STEM extension. Emphasize that no employer filing is required during your OPT period, which removes a common barrier. For STEM extension, explain that the employer does need to enroll in E-Verify, which most established companies already use.
