About the Team
The centralized Testing team for TikTok provides support for multiple service component value chains. In this role, team members have the opportunity to validate, automate, develop, and manage the complex challenges of scale with your expertise in large-scale systems. The main responsibilities include maintaining automation tests, handling user feedback, functional validation, building the App, and release management. We are looking for talented individuals to join our team. As a graduate, you will get opportunities to pursue bold ideas, tackle complex challenges, and unlock limitless growth. Responsibilities:
- Participate in the entire system testing process under guidance, including requirement analysis, designing and executing basic test plans/cases, and tracking software defects through resolution.
- Assist in project execution, tracking risk items, and maintaining test execution processes.
- Learn and apply existing test tools, and collaborate with automation/performance engineers to develop and maintain internal tools, test frameworks, and continuous delivery platforms to improve overall team productivity.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Individuals who are completing or have recently completed a Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong foundational programming skills in Java, Python, Objective-C, or Golang through academic projects, coursework, or internships.
- Fundamental understanding of test automation concepts and basic experience with API, mobile, or web testing tools.
- Familiarity with software engineering fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and system architecture principles.
- Interest or academic project experience in leveraging AI/LLM tools or prompt engineering to improve code quality or testing efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework or project experience in evaluating/testing AI Agent/LLM outputs or model behavior.
- Basic familiarity with web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask) or container/distributed tech concepts (e.g., Docker, K8s, Kafka, Redis).
- Previous internship or research experience in software testing, QA automation, or mobile/web development.
- Strong passion for mobile internet products and building next-generation applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strong curiosity, and a collaborative mindset for working across cross-functional and global teams.

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $128000 - $256000 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure). Confirm your OPT start date before applying
Graduate programs often have fixed cohort start dates. Make sure your OPT authorization period begins before or on the program's first day, or your EAD won't cover you from day one, which disqualifies you immediately.
Target STEM-designated programs if you have a STEM degree
If your degree falls under a STEM CIP code, prioritize employers enrolled in E-Verify. That unlocks the 24-month OPT extension, giving you up to 36 months total to work and pursue H-1B visa sponsorship.
Ask about H-1B sponsorship during the offer stage
Many Graduate programs run on a two to three year track before conversion. Ask HR directly whether the company sponsors H-1B before you accept, so you know your long-term options while OPT is still active.
Align your Graduate role with your degree field
OPT requires employment directly related to your major area of study. A Graduate engineering role for a computer science graduate is straightforward, but a mismatched role could jeopardize your authorization status with your DSO.
Report your employer to your DSO within 10 days
Once you start a Graduate position, you must report your employer name, address, and job title to your DSO within 10 days. Failure to update SEVIS is one of the most common OPT compliance violations.
Apply early to account for EAD processing times
USCIS currently takes two to four months to process EAD applications. If a Graduate program has a firm start date, calculate backward and file as soon as your application window opens to avoid gaps.
Graduate OPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Can I work in a Graduate role on OPT without an H-1B?
Yes. OPT gives you 12 months of work authorization after graduation without needing an H-1B. If your degree is STEM-eligible and your employer is enrolled in E-Verify, you can apply for a 24-month extension, giving you up to 36 months total to work in a Graduate role before needing a different visa.
Do Graduate programs count as qualifying OPT employment?
Yes, as long as the role is directly related to your major field of study. Graduate rotational programs, analyst tracks, and associate engineer positions all qualify when they align with your degree. Your DSO can confirm whether a specific role meets the requirement before you accept an offer.
What happens if my OPT expires before my Graduate program ends?
If your OPT expires and you don't have an extension or a new visa status, you must stop working immediately. The most common solutions are applying for a STEM OPT extension if eligible, transitioning to H-1B status if your employer sponsors it, or returning to school for a higher degree to restart OPT eligibility.
