BI is driven by its mission to deliver quality, cost-effective services to the neediest Texans. This position makes a significant contribution to LSCC's mission by assisting with data reporting and analytical activities.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Healthcare Data Analyst performs complex data collection, reporting and analysis to monitor, evaluate and increase efficiencies for LSCC. Work involves conducting detailed analysis of and extensive research on data, used for financial estimates and operational deliverables. Includes providing results, and monitoring and implementing data quality. May provide guidance to others. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The Healthcare Data Analyst works with various teams to explore different aspects of a system (people, policy, and processes) to determine why particular areas are performing well or have opportunities for improvement. The ideal candidate thrives in an environment that emphasizes teamwork to achieve goals, excellence through high professional standards and personal accountability, curiosity to continuously grow and learn, critical thinking for effective execution, and integrity to do things right even when what is right is not easy. This position will be required to travel to other LSCC facilities as needed. A Day in the Life of a Data Analyst may look like this:
- Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with LSCC's leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
- Analyzes data using standard statistical tools, methods, and techniques. Consults with internal and external customers and LSCC staff to identify user needs. Compiles and queries data. Identifies data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by analyzing the content, structure, and relationships within data. Interprets results to identify significant differences in data. Identifies and interprets data patterns and trends and assesses data quality. Cleans and prunes data to discard irrelevant information.
- Prepares concise, comprehensive technical reports to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations on data revisions. Assists in defining, developing, and implementing data standards. Assists in developing data quality measures, analyzing data quality results, and implementing necessary changes to ensure data quality improvement. Assists in developing statistical modeling and graphical analysis.
- Creates comprehensive documentation for new developments, updates, and enhancements for both developers and end-users.
- May develop and implement data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- May perform quality assurance and serve as a subject matter expert on data integrity, extraction, and compilation. May guide the selection of data management tools, and the development of standards, usage guidelines, and procedures for those tools.
- May provide guidance to others.
- Performs related work as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
We ask our Data Analysts to possess a minimum of:
- Experience in data, reporting or business analytics.
- Experience in gathering requirements for reporting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following experience/skills are preferred:
- Experience and education may be substituted for one another with experience in healthcare, Medicaid, or other medical report data preferred.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field is generally preferred.
- Knowledge of SQL preferred.
- Experience using Snowflake databases.
- Experience building dashboards, reports, and applications using Streamlit.
