OPT Pediatric Audiologist Jobs
Pediatric Audiologist jobs on OPT require clinical work authorization and, in most states, a state audiology license before you can practice independently. Your OPT period gives you up to 12 months of authorized employment, with a 24-month STEM extension unavailable for this CIP code, so targeting employers who sponsor H-1B visa early matters.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding OPT Sponsorship in Pediatric Audiologist
Start your state licensure process immediately
Most states require a state audiology license before you can bill independently or work unsupervised. Begin your application as soon as you accept an offer. Delays in licensure can complicate your OPT employment authorization if your job duties are restricted.
Target children's hospitals and academic medical centers first
Large pediatric health systems like children's hospitals and university medical centers have established HR infrastructure for visa sponsorship. They hire audiologists regularly and are far more likely to have sponsored H-1B visa workers before than private clinics.
Confirm your CIP code with your DSO before applying
Audiology typically falls under a healthcare CIP code that does not qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. Confirming this early helps you plan your H-1B sponsorship timeline accurately and avoid assumptions about how long your OPT work authorization lasts.
Ask about H-1B sponsorship before accepting any offer
Raise sponsorship directly during the offer stage, not after. Ask whether the employer has sponsored audiologists before, whether they use immigration counsel, and whether they are willing to file before your OPT expires. Early clarity prevents wasted time.
Prioritize roles with formal clinical fellowship structures
Employers who offer structured audiology fellowships or supervised clinical programs are accustomed to supporting new graduates through credentialing processes. That infrastructure often correlates with willingness to navigate visa sponsorship as well.
Document all supervised clinical hours precisely
If your position involves a supervised clinical period, keep detailed records of hours, supervisors, and patient populations. This documentation supports both your licensure application and any future visa petition that requires demonstrating specialty occupation qualifications.
Pediatric Audiologist OPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Can I work as a Pediatric Audiologist on OPT without a state license?
In most states, no. Audiology is a licensed profession, and practicing without a state license, even on OPT, can violate both state law and the terms of your authorized employment. Some states allow a temporary or provisional license while your full application is pending, which can bridge the gap between graduation and full licensure. Check your specific state's audiology board requirements before accepting any offer.
Does Pediatric Audiology qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension?
Audiology programs are generally classified under healthcare CIP codes, not STEM-designated codes, so most Pediatric Audiology graduates do not qualify for the 24-month STEM extension. That means your standard OPT window is 12 months. You should plan your H-1B sponsorship timeline accordingly and discuss filing options with any employer well before your OPT expiration date.
How do I find Pediatric Audiologist employers who sponsor visas?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for OPT and visa-sponsored job searching, so it is the most efficient place to start. Beyond that, children's hospitals, pediatric specialty clinics affiliated with academic medical centers, and large multi-site audiology groups are the employer categories most likely to have existing H-1B sponsorship experience. Smaller private practices rarely have the infrastructure to navigate immigration petitions.
Can I work at multiple audiology clinics on OPT at the same time?
Yes, concurrent employment is permitted on OPT, but each position must be directly related to your degree program in audiology and must meet the minimum weekly hours requirement for OPT employment. You do not need to file anything additional with USCIS for concurrent jobs, but you should inform your DSO and keep records of both positions in case your authorization is ever reviewed.
What happens to my OPT if my Pediatric Audiologist employer loses accreditation or closes?
If your employer closes or loses accreditation and you lose your job, you enter the standard OPT unemployment window. You have a cumulative limit of 90 days of unemployment during your OPT period, and that clock continues running even while you search for a new position. Finding a new audiology employer quickly is critical. Report any changes in employment status to your DSO as soon as they occur.
