ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
AMD, Inc., is hiring Sr. Product Development Engineer to Develop and/or test electrical/electronic components and/or systems for semiconductor products (CPUs, GPUs, and APUs and related hardware), employing knowledge of electronic theory; Design, develop, and/or manage activities for a specific product or group of products from product definition and planning through production, release and end of life.; Develop of tests and patterns, early hardware characterization test programs; Serve as the central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality, and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution; Discuss and align with Design and Yield engineers to develop production and characterization test flow content, debug and validate Silicon on different technologies; Involvement lasts throughout all stages of a product’s lifestyle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line; Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors; Under limited supervision, exercise judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results; Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles; Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Degree required
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
Amount and type of experience required
One (1) year of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
Specific skills required
The following skills are required:
- Logic and circuit design;
- CMOS transistor design;
- CAD tools;
- Verilog/VHDL;
- Unix/Linux environments;
- C/C++, Perl, and Python;
- Linux/Windows internals;
- Object Oriented design;
- Git; and
- Experience with 93k testing environment.
Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, or internship experience.

Many do, but it depends on your degree field, not just the job title. Can I work as a Product Development Intern before my EAD arrives?

Your employer will also need to sign a formal training plan as part of the STEM OPT extension requirements, so loop them in early.
Are unpaid Product Development Internships allowed on OPT?
Unpaid internships are permitted on OPT only if they provide legitimate practical training directly related to your degree field and you are not displacing a paid employee. The position must still be reported to your DSO. Many universities discourage unpaid OPT because the unemployment limit of 90 days still applies, and unpaid periods do count toward that threshold if you are not actively working.
