Treasury Manager Jobs for OPT Students
Treasury Manager roles are actively sponsored for OPT because employers need specialized finance expertise that's hard to fill. Most positions require a degree in finance, accounting, or economics, and STEM OPT extensions are available if your degree qualifies. Standard OPT gives you 12 months to secure sponsorship.

How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Treasury Manager
Target companies with active OPT sponsorship history
Large corporations, banks, and multinational firms file LCAs for Treasury roles regularly. Filtering for employers with a track record of sponsoring finance positions saves time and improves your odds of reaching a hiring manager who understands the process.
Emphasize technical treasury skills on your resume
Employers weighing visa sponsorship want certainty you can do the job. Highlight cash forecasting, FX risk management, TMS platforms, and SWIFT operations. Specific technical skills reduce hesitation and justify the sponsorship investment for risk-averse hiring teams.
Clarify your STEM OPT eligibility with your DSO early
If your degree is in a STEM-designated field like finance analytics or quantitative economics, you may qualify for a 24-month STEM OPT extension. Confirming eligibility with your Designated School Official before interviews helps you present accurate authorization timelines to employers.
Frame your international background as an asset for treasury roles
Treasury Managers handling FX exposure, cross-border payments, or international subsidiaries benefit from candidates with global financial context. Positioning your international experience as directly relevant to the role shifts the sponsorship conversation from a liability to a hiring advantage.
Prepare a clear, one-paragraph explanation of your work authorization
Many hiring managers are unfamiliar with OPT mechanics. Having a concise explanation ready, covering your authorization period, STEM extension eligibility, and typical H-1B transition timeline, removes ambiguity and helps employers make faster decisions without needing their HR team to research it.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Can I work as a Treasury Manager on OPT?
Yes. Treasury Manager is a specialty occupation that directly aligns with degrees in finance, accounting, economics, or related fields. USCIS recognizes roles requiring that level of specialized knowledge as appropriate for OPT work authorization. Your job duties should match your degree field to remain compliant with F-1 OPT requirements.
Do Treasury Manager roles qualify for STEM OPT extension?
It depends on your degree, not your job title. If your degree is in a STEM-designated field, such as financial engineering, quantitative finance, or applied economics, you may qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. Check the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List and confirm with your DSO before citing STEM eligibility to employers.
How do I find Treasury Manager jobs that sponsor OPT?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for F-1 OPT and visa-sponsored job searches. You can browse Treasury Manager openings from employers with active sponsorship histories without filtering through roles that won't support work authorization. Searching on Migrate Mate is more efficient than sifting through general job boards where sponsorship details are rarely disclosed upfront.
What visa options are available after OPT for Treasury Manager roles?
The most common transition is H-1B, which requires employer sponsorship and a lottery selection in April each year. Australian citizens can pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and processes faster. Candidates with exceptional records may qualify for O-1A. Your employer's immigration counsel typically guides the petition process once an offer is confirmed.
Will employers sponsor a Treasury Manager role for someone on OPT?
Many do, particularly large corporations, financial institutions, and companies with international treasury operations. Treasury management is a specialized function where qualified candidates are not always easy to find domestically. Employers already accustomed to sponsoring finance roles treat OPT candidates as a standard part of their talent pipeline, especially for candidates with strong technical treasury backgrounds.
