Title: Database Administrator (DBA) - Oracle
Location: Remote
Role Summary
Sapiens is transforming from a Services-based delivery model to a SaaS and AI-led platform business. This role is responsible for supporting, coordinating, and maintaining Oracle databases across our SaaS-hosted production environments — installation, configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades, performance tuning, backup/restore, security, auditing, production support, and migration — for a multi-tenant/multi-customer platform running on AWS and Azure. We're looking for someone who thinks like a cloud-native operator, not a legacy on-prem administrator, and who can help modernize our database practices as we scale.
Responsibilities
Administer Oracle 19c+ databases across on-prem, AWS, and Azure — including RAC and Oracle OCI — in a multi-tenant/multi-customer SaaS environment
Install and configure new versions of Oracle Database Server; maintain database servers and processes, including system health/performance monitoring, to meet customer-facing SLAs for availability and security.
Independently analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in real time, including participation in an on-call rotation for production incidents.
Build and maintain automation (scripts, Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent Infrastructure-as-Code) to provision, patch, and monitor databases at scale across many customer instances; document and continuously improve processes.
Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release/deployment activities after hours, within SLA-driven change windows.
Coordinate with the SaaS/Cloud Operations team on shared infrastructure, capacity planning, and incident escalation.
Apply AI tools to database administration workflows (e.g., troubleshooting, automation, documentation) and share this expertise with the team.
Identify, recommend, and promote best practices for multi-tenant data isolation, encryption, and compliance (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR) relevant to hosting insurance client data.
Mentor team members and share domain/technical expertise.
Experience & Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
4+ years of proven experience in Oracle Database Administration and maintenance.
2+ years supporting databases in a multi-tenant or multi-customer SaaS/cloud-hosted production environment.
"Born in the Cloud" experience strongly preferred — prior work at a company whose products/infrastructure were architected natively for the cloud (SaaS-first), rather than migrated from legacy on-prem systems. This reflects the cloud-native mindset, automation-first habits, and platform-scale thinking we need as we complete our shift from a Services to a SaaS and AI-led model.
3+ years' experience in the Insurance/Financial industry preferred
Technical Skills
Strong Oracle troubleshooting and performance-tuning ability, including TKPROF, EXPLAIN PLAN, OEM, and custom scripts.
Hands-on experience with backup/recovery using RMAN.
Experience with Data Pump, Export/Import, SQL*Plus, and SQL*Loader.
Proficiency in PL/SQL required; PG-SQL a plus. PostgreSQL experience a plus.
Cloud DBA experience with AWS preferred; Azure/OCI a plus, including managed database services (Amazon RDS, Azure Database).
Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code/automation tooling (Terraform, Ansible, or scripting) for provisioning and patching at scale.
Familiarity with cloud observability tooling (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, or similar) alongside OEM.
Working knowledge of Windows and Linux environments.
Experience with backend design and development.
Experience migrating data across various RDBMS platforms.
Hands-on experience using AI tools/assistants in a technical workflow preferred.
Other
Incident resolution experience, including on-call/SLA-driven support.
Understanding of multi-tenant data isolation, encryption, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR).
Understanding of DaaS and SaaS concepts, with hands-on experience in SaaS environments.
Cloud cost/capacity management experience (right-sizing, storage tiering) a plus.
Strong communication, accountability, and interpersonal skills; comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-changing environment.

Tips for Your Oracle Database Administrator Job Search
Tailor your resume for DBA depth
List your Oracle version experience explicitly, including 11g, 12c, 19c, and 21c, since many applicants omit this. Recruiters filter by version match, so a resume that names the versions you've actively administered stands out immediately.
Highlight OCP or OCA certifications early
Oracle Certified Professional and Oracle Certified Associate credentials belong in your resume header or a dedicated certifications section, not buried at the bottom. Many automated applicant tracking systems filter for these before a human reviewer sees your file.
Search by stack, not just title
Postings for oracle database administrator roles often surface under titles like database analyst, database engineer, or data infrastructure engineer. Searching by key skills such as RMAN, ASM, and Data Guard alongside the title surfaces openings that a title-only search misses.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists oracle database administrator openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a concrete performance-tuning example
Interviewers for DBA roles almost always ask you to walk through a real tuning scenario. Come with a specific case where you diagnosed a slow query using AWR or Explain Plan, the change you made, and the measurable improvement in execution time or resource usage.
Negotiate around on-call rotation terms
DBA offers frequently include on-call responsibilities that vary widely in frequency and compensation. Before accepting, ask explicitly whether on-call is compensated, how rotations are scheduled, and whether the team uses an incident escalation tool, since these details affect the real value of the offer.
Oracle Database Administrator Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most oracle database administrators?
The companies hiring the most oracle database administrators right now include General Dynamics Information Technology, Peraton, and Quevera, with the largest share of openings in Virginia, Maryland, and Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Healthcare systems, federal contractors, and large financial institutions consistently account for a significant portion of active openings.
How many oracle database administrator jobs are remote?
About 68% of oracle database administrator openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting steady demand for distributed database support. Roles focused on cloud database administration, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and automated monitoring tend to carry the highest rate of remote availability compared to on-premises-heavy positions.
How do you become an oracle database administrator?
Start by earning a degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, then build hands-on Oracle skills through lab environments or entry-level database support roles. Pursue Oracle Certified Associate credentials to validate your knowledge, then progress to Certified Professional as your production experience grows. Practical exposure to RMAN, Data Guard, and performance tuning tools accelerates hiring readiness more than coursework alone.
Can you get hired as an oracle database administrator with little experience?
Yes, entry-level oracle database administrator roles exist, particularly at managed service providers, government agencies, and large enterprises that train internally. Candidates with no production DBA experience improve their prospects by completing Oracle certification exams, building a home lab with Oracle Database Express Edition, and applying to junior DBA or database analyst postings rather than senior roles.
What does the oracle database administrator interview process look like?
Most oracle database administrator interviews include an initial phone screen focused on experience and certifications, followed by a technical round where you walk through a real tuning or recovery scenario in detail. Some employers add a written or practical SQL assessment. Final rounds typically involve meeting the infrastructure or data engineering team to assess fit with existing workflows and on-call responsibilities.
Where can I find and apply to oracle database administrator jobs?
You can find and apply to oracle database administrator jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the United States. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location preferences, and apply directly to each listing without leaving the platform.
