OT Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a ot job in San Francisco?
Focus on San Francisco's dominant hiring sectors: academic medical centers, pediatric outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and school-based programs serving the San Francisco Unified School District. Jobs concentrate in Mission Bay, the Inner Sunset, and the Tenderloin. Candidates who hold a California OT license, have hand therapy or pediatric specialization, and can demonstrate experience with diverse multilingual patient populations stand out in this market.
Which companies hire ots in San Francisco?
Employers hiring ots in San Francisco right now include HiredFirst, EmpowerMe Wellness, and TheKey, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Francisco's hiring is driven by large academic health systems, community health centers serving underserved populations, and private outpatient practices, many of which cluster around the city's major hospital campuses.
Are there remote ot jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though with limits: hands-on clinical ot roles require in-person patient care, but roles in program coordination, home health documentation review, and telehealth OT consultation do allow remote work. About 50% of ot openings tied to San Francisco are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. Telehealth and care coordination positions are the most frequently remote in the San Francisco market.
How can I get a ot job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Francisco is through fieldwork placements or new-grad roles at community health centers and skilled nursing facilities, which consistently hire early-career ots. UCSF Health and Zuckerberg San Francisco General both offer structured new-graduate programs. Entry-level school-based positions with San Francisco Unified School District are another strong option, and bilingual Spanish or Cantonese fluency is a genuine competitive advantage across the city.
