Experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal

We are a well-established, fast-paced bankruptcy law firm dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate financial challenges with compassion, professionalism, and exceptional legal service. We are seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Office Manager/Paralegal to join our team.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate has prior experience handling consumer bankruptcy cases, is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage a high-volume caseload while providing outstanding client service. This position requires someone who can work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases from intake through discharge.
• Gather and review client financial documents.
• Prepare bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements, and other required court filings.
• File documents electronically through CM/ECF.
• Communicate with clients regarding required documentation, deadlines, and case status.
• Coordinate and prepare clients for 341 Meetings of Creditors.
• Draft routine pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
• Monitor case deadlines and maintain accurate case files.
• Communicate with trustees, creditors, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
• Maintain confidentiality while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of bankruptcy paralegal experience (consumer bankruptcy preferred).
• Thorough knowledge of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy procedures.
• Experience with bankruptcy software such as Best Case, MyCase or similar.
• Experience using CM/ECF electronic filing systems.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience.
• Experience working in a high-volume bankruptcy practice preferred but will consider other law firm experience.
• Familiarity with local bankruptcy court rules and procedures.
• Spanish, a plus but not required.
