Pediatric Dentist Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a pediatric dentist in California?
To practice as a pediatric dentist in California you must hold an active license from the Dental Board of California, which requires graduating from an accredited dental school, passing the National Board Dental Examinations, and completing a clinical licensing examination accepted by the Board. Beyond general licensure, pediatric dentistry is a recognized specialty in California, so most hospitals and group practices also expect completion of an accredited two-year pediatric dentistry residency and board certification or active candidacy with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Which companies hire pediatric dentists in California?
Employers hiring pediatric dentists in California right now include PDS Health, Children's Dental FunZone, and Gentle Dental, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. California's network of federally qualified health centers and large group dental service organizations accounts for a significant share of ongoing openings alongside children's hospital systems in major metros.
Which California cities have the most pediatric dentist jobs?
The cities with the most pediatric dentist openings in California are Burbank, Oakland, and Hemet. Los Angeles drives the highest volume given its sheer population size and concentration of group dental practices and children's health systems, while the Bay Area and San Diego generate consistent demand through their academic medical centers, specialty clinics, and well-funded community health organizations serving large pediatric populations.
Are there remote pediatric dentist jobs in California?
Yes, but they're rare. Pediatric dentistry is a hands-on clinical specialty that requires direct patient care, so the vast majority of positions are on-site. About 0% of pediatric dentist openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those that do carry a remote component typically involve telehealth consultations, case review, or administrative and clinical director responsibilities rather than direct chair-side care.
How can I get hired as a pediatric dentist in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is applying for an associate pediatric dentist role with a dental service organization such as Pacific Dental Services or Western Dental, both of which operate large California networks and regularly bring on new residency graduates. Completing a California-based AEGD or pediatric residency at an institution like UCLA, UCSF, or Loma Linda University also opens direct pipelines to affiliated clinics and federally qualified health centers. Having your Dental Board of California license in hand, a current sedation permit, and ABPD board candidacy status will give a new-grad candidate a meaningful edge over those still completing credentialing.
Where can I find and apply to pediatric dentist jobs in California?
You can find and apply to pediatric dentist jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across private practices, group organizations, community health centers, and hospital systems. Find the roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly.
