Tips for Your Pediatric Dentist Job Search
Tailor your resume for practice settings
Private practices and DSOs look for different things. Highlight production volume and patient throughput for DSO roles, and emphasize relationship-based care and community ties for independent or nonprofit clinic positions. One resume rarely works for both.
List sedation credentials prominently
Nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation permits are listed as requirements in most pediatric dentist postings. Put your sedation certifications in a dedicated credentials section near the top of your resume so hiring managers don't have to search for them.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists pediatric dentist openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target postings that specify patient age range
Some practices serve infants through teens while others focus on ages two to eight. If you have a strong background with a specific age group or behavior management approach, filter for postings that call out those patient demographics explicitly.
Prepare case presentations for panel interviews
Group practices and DSOs often include a clinical case review in their interview process. Have two or three treatment planning scenarios ready that demonstrate your approach to anxious patients, phased treatment, and working with parents on consent and education.
Negotiate partnership track terms before signing
Many pediatric dentist offers include a partnership or buy-in option down the line. Ask about the timeline, valuation method, and buy-in structure during negotiations, not after you've accepted. These terms vary widely and are much harder to revisit once you're employed.
Pediatric Dentist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most pediatric dentists?
The companies hiring the most pediatric dentists right now include 42 North Dental, Axpm Dental Management, and Smiles 4 Kids Allenmore PC, with the largest share of openings in Washington, Arkansas, and California, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. DSOs and multi-location group practices account for a significant portion of active postings nationwide.
How many pediatric dentist jobs are remote?
About 0% of pediatric dentist openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how hands-on the clinical role is. The remote share is concentrated in non-clinical adjacent roles such as tele-dentistry consultations, clinical director positions with administrative duties, and public health program coordination.
How do you become a pediatric dentist?
You become a pediatric dentist by completing a bachelor's degree, earning a DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school, and then finishing an accredited two-year pediatric dentistry residency. After residency, you obtain a state dental license and can pursue board certification through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry by passing written and oral examinations.
Can you get hired as a pediatric dentist with little experience?
Yes, many practices hire new residency graduates directly into associate roles designed to build clinical volume and patient management skills under mentorship. Community health centers and federally qualified health centers are often more open to new graduates than private DSOs. Completing rotations in underserved settings during residency and holding current sedation permits strengthens a new-grad application considerably.
What does the pediatric dentist interview process look like?
The process typically starts with a phone screen with an office manager or HR contact, followed by a clinical site visit where you tour the facility and meet the team. A second round often includes a case review or clinical scenario discussion with lead dentists or a regional director. DSOs may add a final call with a credentialing or compliance team before extending an offer.
Where can I find and apply to pediatric dentist jobs?
You can find and apply to pediatric dentist jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from practices, DSOs, community health centers, and hospital systems across the United States. Find roles that match your setting preference, specialization, and location, then apply directly to each listing from the page.
