Personal Trainer Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a personal trainer in Mississippi?
Mississippi does not issue a state license for personal trainers, so the primary credential is a nationally accredited certification from an organization such as NASM, ACE, ACSM, or NSCA. Most Mississippi employers treat one of these certifications as a hard requirement before hiring. A degree in kinesiology, exercise science, or a related field strengthens your application, and current CPR plus AED certification is required by virtually every gym and wellness employer in the state.
Which companies hire personal trainers in Mississippi?
Companies currently hiring personal trainers in Mississippi include Crunch Fitness, D1 Training, and D1 Training Olive Branch, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hospital-affiliated wellness centers and university recreation departments across Mississippi are also consistent sources of full-time openings with benefits.
Which Mississippi cities have the most personal trainer jobs?
Olive Branch, Grenada, and Jackson account for the largest share of personal trainer openings in Mississippi. Jackson leads as the state capital and home to major medical systems and corporate fitness facilities, while Gulfport and Hattiesburg generate steady demand through resort and hospitality venues along the Gulf Coast and large university recreation programs, respectively.
Are there remote personal trainer jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, but they're rare. Personal training is fundamentally a hands-on, in-person role, so most positions require physical presence at a gym, clinic, or client facility. About 0% of personal trainer openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those roles typically involve virtual coaching, program design, or telehealth-based fitness consulting rather than floor training.
How can I get hired as a personal trainer in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a nationally accredited certification first, then applying for a fitness floor associate or group fitness assistant role at a YMCA of Mississippi location or a Planet Fitness in the Jackson or Gulfport area. These employers regularly bring on candidates without a client book and provide on-the-job mentoring. A CPR certification and a brief internship or volunteer stint at a university recreation center, such as those at the University of Southern Mississippi or Mississippi State University, gives candidates a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to personal trainer jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to personal trainer jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the roles that match your certification, preferred location, and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
