NP Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a np in Mississippi?
To become an NP in Mississippi, you must hold an active registered nurse license, complete an accredited graduate NP program at the MSN or DNP level, and pass a national certification exam through ANCC or AANP. You then apply for advanced practice licensure through the Mississippi Board of Nursing, which also requires a collaborating physician agreement under Mississippi's collaborative practice law. A DEA registration is required for prescriptive authority.
Which companies hire nps in Mississippi?
Companies currently hiring nps in Mississippi include Fast Pace Health, Baptist Memorial Health Care, and University of Mississippi Medical Center, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Mississippi's largest health systems, federally qualified health centers, and rural health clinic networks are the most consistent sources of NP openings across the state.
Which Mississippi cities have the most np jobs?
Jackson, Gulfport, and Southaven have the most NP openings in Mississippi. Jackson leads because it anchors the state's largest academic medical center and regional hospital network, while Hattiesburg and Gulfport draw volume from their own major health systems serving South Mississippi's coastal and inland communities.
Are there remote np jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, but they're rare. NP roles are predominantly clinical and require in-person patient contact, so fully remote positions are a small fraction of total openings. About 41% of np openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions are most often in telemedicine, behavioral health, or utilization review rather than direct primary care.
How can I get hired as a np in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to new-graduate NP programs at large Mississippi health systems, particularly University of Mississippi Medical Center and Ochsner Health, both of which onboard new NPs through structured transition-to-practice programs. Federally qualified health centers and rural health clinics across Mississippi often prefer to hire new graduates who are willing to work in underserved areas and provide supervision support. Holding an active Mississippi NP license with prescriptive authority and a completed national certification exam before applying gives candidates a clear edge over those still pending credentialing.
Where can I find and apply to np jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to NP jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current Mississippi openings from employers actively hiring. Search the listings to find roles that match your specialty, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
