Phlebotomist Jobs in Indianapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a phlebotomist job in Indianapolis?
Focus on hospital systems, outpatient diagnostic labs, and blood donation centers, which are the most active employers in Indianapolis. The IU Health and Ascension St. Vincent networks, along with independent draw stations near Castleton and the south-side medical corridor, hire regularly. Candidates with a national certification such as NPA or ASCP and at least one clinical externship completed in Indiana have a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire phlebotomists in Indianapolis?
Companies currently hiring phlebotomists in Indianapolis include Quest Diagnostics, Indiana University Health, and Alverno Clinical Laboratories, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indianapolis's mix of large academic medical centers, regional hospital networks, and national lab operators means openings appear across a wide range of employer sizes and settings.
Are there remote phlebotomist jobs in Indianapolis?
Yes, though remote work is rare for phlebotomists because the core role requires drawing blood directly from patients on site. About 31% of phlebotomist openings tied to Indianapolis are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, mostly covering administrative, telephonic patient coordination, or training and education positions. Mobile phlebotomy routes serving Indianapolis-area clinics and home-draw programs offer the closest alternative to a flexible schedule.
How can I get a phlebotomist job in Indianapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Indianapolis is completing a phlebotomy certificate program at Ivy Tech Community College's Indianapolis campus and finishing your required venipunctures there. Blood donation centers such as the Indiana Blood Center regularly hire entry-level collectors and provide on-the-job training that counts toward national certification. Starting in a patient registration or medical assistant role at an Indianapolis urgent care clinic is another common lateral move that opens the door to draw-station positions.
Which industries hire the most phlebotomists in Indianapolis?
The sectors hiring the most phlebotomists in Indianapolis are Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026.
