Physical Therapist Jobs in Columbia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a physical therapist job in Columbia?
Columbia's strongest hiring comes from its large hospital systems, the VA medical campus on Garners Ferry Road, outpatient orthopedic and sports rehab clinics, and skilled nursing facilities in the Midlands region. Candidates with neurological or pediatric specializations tend to stand out, as do those with experience in post-surgical orthopedic rehab. Networking through Palmetto Health-affiliated departments and attending local SCAPTA events can open doors that posted listings don't always reflect.
Which companies hire physical therapists in Columbia?
Employers hiring physical therapists in Columbia right now include FOX Rehabilitation, Collage Rehabilitation Partners, and PruittHealth, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Columbia's market is anchored by large integrated health systems and a growing network of independently owned outpatient clinics serving the surrounding Midlands communities.
Are there remote physical therapist jobs in Columbia?
Yes, though remote opportunities are limited by nature for a hands-on clinical role. About 0% of physical therapist openings tied to Columbia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the small but real slice of telehealth-based PT consultations and care coordination roles available in the market. Telehealth PT in Columbia is most common in home health follow-up and rural outreach programs serving patients beyond the immediate metro area.
How can I get a physical therapist job in Columbia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbia is landing a PT aide or rehabilitation technician role at one of the city's outpatient orthopedic clinics or hospital-affiliated rehab departments, which regularly hire without full licensure. Skilled nursing facilities and home health agencies in the Midlands also hire new graduates under supervision. Completing clinical rotations at Prisma Health or MUSC's regional affiliates gives you a direct referral network before you finish your degree.
